CFL Picks – Hamilton Tiger Cats vs BC Lions July 22nd

I am back with my third CFL pick on the season.  So far here at TheSportsGeek.com I have posted two winner (2-0) and I have confidence I can make it 3-0 with a winner tonight.  Tonight’s CFL post will be a little short, as it is Friday afternoon and I have plans for tonight, but I wanted to get the pick up for those who are looking for some action and a smart play.

Tonight’s game features the Hamilton Tiger Cats and the BC Lions, as they square off in BC.  The Lions are looking for their first win of the season, as they have had a rough 0-3 start.  BC’s losses came to Montreal, Calgary, and last week against Edmonton, as they have been outscored an average 32.3 – 25. Hamilton started 0-2, but got their first win last week in a convincing 33-3 victory against the Roughriders to move them to 1-2 on the year.  The Ti Cats lost 24-16 in their home opener against Winnipeg, and then fell 28-10 in Edmonton in Week 2.

Neither team wants to lose this game, as both an 1-3 and 0-4 start to the season was definitely not what either had expected.  I think we have a soft line here today that I want to take advantage of.  Betting odds and my CFL pick for the week is found below…

Tonight’s CFL Pick

I’m riding the Tiger Cats getting 3.5 points here on the road against the winless Lions.  We have to be careful here because the Lions have played against three tough opponents, but I still will fade them here tonight as they haven’t proved they can compete yet.  The Lions defense is averaging over 32 points against in their three games, while the Ti Cats have held opponents to just 18.3 points on average (including holding Saskatchewan to just 3 last week).  The road team has won the last three meetings between these two teams, and Hamilton has covered in 4 of their last 5 meetings and 4 straight meetings when they were the underdog.  Note that the BC Lions are just 3-8 Against The Spread (ATS) in their last 11 games following a straight up loss.  They are also 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.  Also note that Hamilton is 4-1 ATS in these two teams last 5 meetings in British Columbia.  These two teams match up well, and I think the confidence gained from last weeks victory well be a big advantage over the winless Lions.  I don’t know if the Ti Cats are capable of picking up a big road victory tonight, but I like them getting 3.5 points here.

PICK = HAMILTON TIGER CATS +3.5
