Thursday night sees two teams meeting each other that have had (on paper) opposite pre seasons so far. Early in the week the word coming out of Dallas was that they would be resting their starters for Thursdays tilt but with the poor overall performance of the offense coach Philips has let on that he is considering putting his starters in for this week 4 matchup. Miami is in need of cohesion and consistency and Coach Sparano may be tempted to use this game begin building his season on. Kickoff is 8:00.
Miami brings their physical game into Dallas with the attitude of making a statement. Sparano has placed enough confidence in Henne to enable him to make good decisions when necessary. Their running attack is effective enough and varied enough to keep opposing on their toes and their defense knows how to hit, wrap up, and finish the play. Although it would appear to be a sexy idea believing Miami will bang out a win over Dallas a quick look at the facts straightens a couple things out: their two wins so far have come against terrible sides in Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, injuries are mounting on both sides of the football, and they have just traded away arguably Henne’s best hook up on the field and friend off the field in Greg Camarillo.
Dallas is heading into this matchup suffering from a bit of schizophrenia. They are a struggling team that has yet to play to (or realize) its great potential. The starters do not want to be playing in this game and, as mentioned, Coach Philips doesn’t want to have to play them. However, I can see them in for at least a quarter or two to work out some kinks and build a little confidence. With all the doom and gloom surrounding this teams pre-season their two wins have thus far have come against playoff caliber teams (Cincy and San Diego) and they are playing at home where the ‘Boys are very comfortable. The deciding factor here will be how much of a cushion the starters can get for themselves in the first half of the game.

Dolphins vs Cowboys Prediction for NFL Week 3 Preseason Game:
Game Total Prediction (Top Play) – Its under game here. The ‘Boys will do enough to win this game and then throw their second unit on the field to ride out the win. The Dolphins don’t have enough fire power or mojo to catch up and hang with Dallas…at this point anyways. Prediction (Top Play) – Under 36.5
Spread Prediction – The 2.5 points seems too tantalizing to pass up…almost like a 2.5 karat diamond missing on a football field and agreeing to help find it knowing that you have a chance of pocketing the rock or being reimbursed for your efforts. The Cowboys can’t afford to lose this game as they are a team of habit and emotion. They need this. Coach Philips knows it and so does his players. Prediction – Cowboys -2.5
