Chad Henne and the Miami Dolphins (1-0) head for their second straight road game in Week 2 as they travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings (0-1). The game will get underway at 1 PM EST and features two teams who struggled to put up points in their respective openers.
The Dolphins opened up their 2010 campaign in Buffalo with a hard fought 15-10 victory over the Bills. Miami covered the spread as 3 point favorites. Chad Henne threw for 182 yards on 21 of 34 passes and did just enough to win the game for the Fins. Coach Tony Sparano’s gameplan is to utilize his two headed monster at running back (Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams) and get an average to above average performance out of the QB. In Week 1, it worked out perfectly, with Brown and Williams each running for over 60 yards. The defense more than held up its end of the bargain in the victory, allowing just 10 points and a measly 166 yards, which was the lowest total allowed in Week 1. Miami continue a recent trend of playing well on the road as they are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 away from Miami.
Minnesota has had 10 days to get ready for this matchup after opening the season with a 14-9 loss to the defending champion New Orleans Saints last Thursday. The team looked somewhat lost on offense, putting up just 253 yards and 9 points against the Saints. QB Brett Favre began showing his age in the second half and will continue to be without his favorite target, WR Sidney Rice. The defense was very solid against the Saints’ juggernaut offense, allowing just 2 touchdowns and 308 yards. Favre has to be better against Miami after hitting on just 15 of 27 passes for 171 yards and seemingly having no deep threat. The Vikings are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and usually seem to take advantage of the noise in the dome.

Dolphins vs Vikings Prediction for Week 2:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Both teams played in low scoring Week 1 contests, thanks to well played defense and a pair of offenses that looked a step slow to start the year. Recent trends would indicate another low scoring affair in this one. Six of Miami’s last seven games on fieldturf have gone under the posted total and 5 of the Vikings’ last 6 home games have gone under. Favre and the Vikings offense are still without their deep threat and if Miami gets a lead they will look to slow the game down on the ground.
Spread Prediction – Minnesota has had a habit of winning and covering the spread at home since Brett Favre arrived on the scene last season. They are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 following a straight up loss. While Miami has been strong on the road dating back to last season, they are typically poor in September. The Dolphins are 2-10-2 ATS in their last 14 in September. Look for the Vikings to have a bounce back week against the travel weary Fins.
