The quarterback situations for these two teams are as different as night and day, with LSU featuring a two-QB system with Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee that has underperformed for a large portion of the season, and Auburn led on offense by Heisman-contender Cameron Newton. Jefferson with 577 yards passing, a 54.2 completion percentage and 2 TDs with 7 INTs and Lee with a 71 percent completion percentage for 384 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT with less playing time, have woefully underperformed so far this season for LSU, and the Tigers ground game, relying on junior Steve Ridley with 687 yards rushing and 6 TDs, has carried them to date. LSU’s defense is the main reason for their undefeated record so far, and if LSU hopes to remain the last undefeated team in the SEC, the defense will likely have to carry the load again.
For Auburn, the offense begins and ends with the dynamic, dual-threat QB Newton who leads the SEC in rushing with 122.9 YPG and has run for 12 scores in addition to his passing exploits. He has also thrown for 1,278 yards with 13 scores and 5 interceptions with a very efficient 65.6 completion percentage. If LSU can contain Newton, they can win it is as simple as that. Auburn averages 40 points per game, and LSU must hold them well under that average to have any chance to win because the Tigers do not possess the offensive firepower to win a shoot-out.
LSU is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games on grass. Auburn is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 4-1 in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning record. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings at Auburn and 8-2 in the two teams last 10 meetings overall.

LSU vs. Auburn Betting Predictions Week 8:
Spread Prediction (Top Play) – Auburn is a solid favorite at home in this game as the Tigers simply have too much firepower on offense for LSU to keep up. This will be by far the LSU defense’s toughest opponent to date, and even if they are able to neutralize Newton to some extent, the LSU offense will not be able to put enough points on the board to stay in the game. LSU has been living dangerously all season long, and this will likely be the week where their luck runs out. Newton has not been stopped this season, and the dangerous run pass combo he provides along with the home field advantage will be more than enough for Auburn to remain the last unbeaten team in the SEC and over the 6 point line.
Over/Under Prediction – Take the over here, the trend in the games between the tow teams favors the over and with Newton running the show for an Auburn offense that averages 40 points per contest look for that trend to continue. LSU should be able to put up a few points, especially because they know they will have to put the ball in the air more if they want to keep up with the high-octane Auburn offense, but they will not be able to stay close enough in this one.
