The 21st ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys are trying for a school record tying 10th win in the January 2nd Cotton Bowl against Mississippi. This will mark the first time the Cotton Bowl is held at new Cowboys Stadium. Oklahoma State (9-3) looked destined for a BCS bowl bid before they suffered a 27-0 loss to Oklahoma in the regular-season finale on November 28th. This marked the first time the Cowboys were shut out since 2005 and lost their seventh straight against the Sooners. This year’s matchup is a rematch of the 2004 game, which was the only meeting between these two teams. In that game, Eli Manning led Ole Miss to a 31-28 win over Oklahoma State – his final college game in which he passed for three touchdowns. The game will move from Cotton Bowl Stadium to the new $1.2 billion dollar new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ole Miss looked good all year but closed the regular season with a 41-27 defeat at Mississippi State on November 28th that snapped their three game winning streak and dropped them from the top 25. This is the fourth straight bowl appearance for the Cowboys and the Rebels are 7-2 in six straight wins in bowl games against Big 12 opponents. Oklahoma State vs Mississippi Predictions:
Final Score Prediction – Mississippi 24 Oklahoma 20
Spread Prediction – This is going to be a big game for Mississippi quarterback Jevan Snead, who is trying to prove to NFL scouts that he is worthy of a first round pick. Also running back Dexter McCluster was last years offensive MVP of the Cotton Bowl and has averaged 184.8 yards on the ground in his previous four games. These two will be the key reason why Mississippi comes out with the win on a late field goal. Throw down on MISSISSIPPI to cover this 3 point spread.
Over/Under – Take the UNDER 50.5 points in this one. Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson has a nagging ankle injury that could potentially limit his performance, which means limiting the scoring of their entire offense. Also, the Cowboys are allowing 87.7yards rushing/game, good for sixth in the country. Although this will be an exciting game, don’t expect it to eclipse the over/under mark. Bet on the UNDER.
