If the previous two Monday nights have been any indication, we are in for an absolute treat once again this Monday. The Chicago Bears are 2-0 (1-1 ATS) so far and will be playing host to their hated rivals, the Green Bay Packers, who are also 2-0 (2-0 ATS). Game time is set for 8:30 PM EST at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The Packers have started the season on the right foot, going 2-0 and showing off a juggernaut offense led by QB Aaron Rodgers. The Pack downed Philadelphia 27-20 in their opener and then pounded Buffalo 34-7 last week. Rodgers was an efficient 19 of 29 passing for 255 yards with 2 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also ran for 20 yards and a touchdown. The Packers’ defense has been phenomenal through 2 weeks as well. They held the Bills to just 186 yards of total offense last week and intercepted Bills QB Trent Edwards twice. Green Bay ranks 3rd in the NFL with 30.5 points scored per game. The defense is allowing just 253 yards per game, which is also good for 3rd in the league. Worth noting is that the Packers have covered the spread in their last 4 meeting with the Bears, who are an NFC North rival.
Chicago comes into this Monday night clash at a surprising 2-0 as well. After scraping by in a 19-14 win over Detroit in Week 1, the Bears went into Dallas and knocked off the Cowboys 27-20 last week. The game wasn’t as close as the score reflected, as the Bears looked like they were in control most of the way. QB Jay Cutler, who was the whipping boy in Chicago last season, has been fantastic so far in 2010. Last week against the Cowboys, Cutler hit 21 of 29 passes for 277 yards and 3 touchdowns. He didn’t throw any picks last week, which was his achilles in a disastrous 2009 season. Matt Forte ran for just 29 yards on 10 carries last week and will need to do better this week. The Bears come into this one 5th in the NFL, averaging 385.5 yards per game. The defense is number one in the league against the run, allowing a measly 28 yards per game on the ground.

Packers vs. Bears Prediction for Week 3:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Both of these teams have relied on their passing game so far in the season. The Bears have barely allowed an inch of daylight to opposing rushers to this point in the season. I expect a track meet to break out in this one, with both teams going to the air. The total has gone over in 25 of Green bay’s last 34 games following an ATS win.
Spread Prediction – Both teams have looked good so far in the season but the Packers have looked better. When the teams meet, the Packers usually cover and have done so in 4 straight head to head matchups. The Bears are also 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games at Soldier Field.
