The Miami Dolphins play host to a second straight AFC North rival this week, as the New England Patriots visit for a Monday Night Football matchup. With both teams sitting at 2-1, this game has major tiebreaker implications. And if that’s not a reason to suit up in your favorite Belichick hoodie, then the past storylines certainly are. Who can forget 2008 when Ronnie Brown scored 4 TD’s verses the Pats, and threw for 1 more out of the Wildcat package? Since then, the Pats have been disastrous when the Dolphins have used Wildcat against them. Miami will hope to be as successful on Monday as they have been in the past.
The Patriots of won 6 of their last 7 MNF games, and Wes Welker has 371 receiving yards in his last 3 games versus his former team. But they Pats are having trouble stopping anyone this year, and you don’t have to look further than their battle with the Bills last week to prove that statement true. Buffalo put up 30 points on them (23 on their defense) while the Pats let QB Ryan Fitzpatrick go 20/28 for 247 yards and 2 TD’s. New England are giving up almost 28 points per game, and their defense ranks 27th in total yards per game with 379. Rankings don’t always give the best picture, but this week won’t be any different for the Pats, as the Dolphins have added incentive to win.
The fins are at about the league average in rushing yards this year, but their last two games have been against two of the league’s top rushing defenses (Vikings and Jets). Look for the Ricky and Ronnie show to take over on Monday, and watch for Chad Henne to take a back seat to the Wildcat Package.

Patriots vs Dolphins Predictions for Betting MNF Game:
Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY): One of the hardest things for betters to do is let go of a team who’ve historically made them a lot of money. Two teams in the past decade have been sure things in the NFL: Indianapolis and New England. While the Colts are still performing at the highest level, the Patriots are not, and it’s time betters began to realize that this isn’t the same team as 2007, and prior. Last year lots of money was thrown on New England to head into the Superdome and beat the undefeated Saints, and for some reason people still believe that the Pats have the Colts’ number. But in both instances, the numbers haven’t lied, and this Monday the Patriots are heading into Miami to face a team that’s better than them. Yes New England’s offense is still more potent, but without a running game and with a very poor defense, the Dolphins have the better chance of winning, and I think that they’ll hand the Patriots their 2nd loss of the season. The Dolphins were outplayed last week at home, on prime time by the Jets, and this well coached team will play hard to make sure they don’t drop back to back games versus another division rival.
Game Total Prediction: The Patriots will be able to move the ball; you can count on Brady to be efficient week after week. But they’ll have a very tough time stopping the Dolphins, and if last week’s game with the Jets is any indication, then you’ll want to bet on the Over in this one. Neither team is playing great defense this year. The Dolphins are weak against the pass and the Pats are poor against both pass and run. Special teams should also play a factor, as the Pats special teams let CJ Spiller return a kick for a TD last week. Take the Over in this one, it’s the right play.
