Mile High stadium is the site for a Week 2 battle between the Seattle Seahawks and host Denver Broncos. The teams come into the game on the opposite end of the spectrum with Seattle looking dominant in a Week 1 win and the Broncos losing in Jacksonville. Kickoff will be at 4:15 PM EST.
Seattle surprised everyone, especially the betting public, by laying a 31-6 beating on offseason sleeper San Francisco. After going down 6-0 in the second quarter, the Seahawks rattled off 31 straight points for a convincing win at home over the 49ers. QB Matt Hasselbeck was a very efficient 18 of 23 for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns, with 1 interception. The defense swarmed 49ers’ QB Alex Smith causing a fumble and 2 picks, one of which was taken to the house by Marcus Trufant. The D also stifled the Niners run game, limiting them to just 49 yards on the ground. The team generally uses their homefield advantage as they did last week, but struggle greatly on the road. Away from Seattle, the team is 1-8 in their last 9 ATS.
The Broncos opened up their 2010 season with a disappointing 24-17 loss in Jacksonville. Denver never led the game and ran out of time to tie it up for a fourth time in the game. Kyle Orton looked good for Denver in throwing for 295 yards on 21 of 33 passes but the running game mustered just 89 yards. The defense wasn’t terrible in the opening week but allowed Jaguars’ QB David Garrard to play a mistake free game, going 16 for 21 with 3 touchdowns. The defense also failed to create a turnover and had just one sack, obviously missing top pass rusher Elvis Dumervil, who is out for the 2010 season. Mile high can be a tough stadium for visiting teams to adjust to with the change in air pressure, but it is Denver who has really struggled, going 8-21-1 in their last 30 home games ATS.

Seahawks vs Broncos Prediction for Week 2:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Denver’s defense looked like it was lacking for true playmakers last week, as Jacksonville was able to methodically march down the field on many of their drives. Seattle’s offense looked very efficient a week ago too. I am expecting Seattle to get off to a good start and the Broncos having to go to the air to play catch up, which should result in a high total in this one. The total has gone over in Denver’s last 6 games.
Spread Prediction – While Denver is a tough place for opponents to play, the trend has been fantastic for them covering. Seattle has not been a good road team in the past but looked vastly superior to the 49ers a week ago and capable of playing the brand of football that keeps you in games. I expect a tight game with Seattle winning straight up or Denver taking it by just a field goal.
