Steelers Ravens Spread Line and Predictions SNF Week 13

If there is a more physical, visceral rivalry in the game today, I’m not sure what it is. They met three times, including the AFC Championship Game during Pittsburgh’s championship run in 2008. Sundays primetime match up will be a fight for top spot in the AFC North and the winner may be able to carry the lead for the remainder of the season as both clubs have fairly easy schedules. The (8-3) Baltimore Ravens will host their rival (8-3) Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium under the lights on Sunday with tops in the AFC North on the line, kickoff slated for 8:20 PM EST. The Ravens won the first meeting this year on a late-game drive.

Our “Top Plays” are an INSANE 45-15 over the past three weeks, which includes 12-2 so far in Week 13. I HIGHLY recommend that you enter your first name and email in the form on the left hand side to receive the free picks!

The Steelers are fortunate to even be tied for the lead in the division after surviving several close calls this season. The most recent was a dropped pass in the end zone by WR Stevie Johnson that would have given Buffalo the win in OT. Both Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu are battling foot injuries but expected to play. The team is coming off a 19-16 overtime victory against the Buffalo Bills last week as a -6 ½ point road favorite. Pittsburgh blew at 13-0 lead in the second half. They were very fortunate that Buffalo dropped a sure touchdown pass in overtime that would have hung a loss on the Steelers last week. The Steelers put up 426 yards and converted on 12 of 19 on third down. The team had a solid game on the ground with 206 yards on 45 carries for a 4 ½ yards per rush average. The team was penalized 10 times for 107 yards. The Steelers dominated time of possession by 18 minutes. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 20 of 33 passes for 246 yards with no touchdowns and picks. Running back Rashard Mendenhall ran it 36 times for 151 yards with a touchdown. Hines Ward led the receiving corps with 7 catches for 107 yards. Tight end Heath Miller had 4 catches for 46 yards. Big play Mike Wallace had 3 catches but for just 33 yards. On defense the Steelers allows its opponents 17 points and 304 yards per game. The team gave up 329 yards to the Bills last week and 4 of 13 on third down. The team gave up 74 rushing yards on 17 carries for nearly 4 ½ yards per rush. The Steelers were good in the red zone allowing 0 of 3 touchdowns last week to their AFC East opponent. Pittsburgh allowed the Bills to hit on 23 of 45 passes for 265 yards with a touchdown and a pick.

The Ravens are starting to hit their stride with an offense that is ranked 14th overall in the league and a defense that is ranked eighth overall and fifth in points allowed; giving up an average of just 17.1 per game. In addition to sole possession of first place, the Ravens would gain a huge edge with a victory considering they beat Pittsburgh 17-14 at Heinz Field on Oct. 3 – the Steelers’ last game before Ben Roethlisberger returned from his suspension. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, would own the tiebreaker – for now – if it wins, due to Baltimore’s Week 2 division loss at Cincinnati. The Ravens didn’t force any turnovers Sunday against Tampa Bay, but they didn’t need any after another fine performance from Joe Flacco. Baltimore’s third-year quarterback threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-10 win, its eighth straight at home. In six games since Oct. 17, Flacco has 13 TDs, two interceptions and a 111.6 passer rating – the league’s second-best in that stretch. Baltimore Ravens strong safety Dawan Landry expects to play Sunday against the Steelers after suffering a mild concussion. Although Landry said he has no symptoms from the concussion, which was caused by his big hit on Buccaneers running back Cadillac Williams, he has yet to take the baseline test. Lewis and Suggs will certainly have Roethlisberger in their sights, as will safety Ed Reed, who missed the teams’ first meeting but has four interceptions and a forced fumble since returning from a hip injury in late October.

Steelers vs Ravens Prediction for Week 13:

Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – These two clubs have always been known for their punishing and relentless defenses but as of recently they are also coming to be recognized for their offensive merits. The free agent acquisition of WR Anquan Boldin for the Ravens has all but finally opened up the playbook for QB Joe Flacco as he now possess the double triple threat in WR Derek Mason and RB Ray Rice. The Ravens have seen increases across the board offensively this season as offensive coordinator Cam Cameron has all the weapons he needs. The Steelers offense has also seen a significant increase in production and much of this rise can be attributed to the breakout season of WR Mike Wallace. Wallace has been a stalwart for Pittsburgh and gives the offensive the much-needed deep threat they have always vied for. For the Ravens, it comes down to whether they can get Ray Rice involved. A knee injury contributed to him having his worst game of the season when these two teams met in Week 4, but if he can continue his hot streak (four straight games with at least 100 total yards), it will loosen things up for Baltimore’s steady receivers on the outside. For a game featuring two of the most respected defenses in the NFL, there could be a fair amount of offense. Another factor working in the OVER’s favor is the fact that both teams secondary’s are banged up, Ravens S Dawan Landry suffered a concussion last week but is expected to play. The total has gone OVER in 6 of Pittsburgh’s last 9 games when playing Baltimore. We will consider this game reaching the OVER, as both teams will look to the air against banged up secondary’s. We will consider the OVER in Sunday’s primetime tilt between AFC North powerhouses.

Top Play Prediction = OVER 40 Total Points

Spread Prediction – The Pittsburgh Steelers have not won against a legitimate contender since Big Bens arrival, they have lost against the Patriots and the Saints with Roethlisberger at the helm. Roethlisberger is coming into this one hobbled as his foot took a bit of a beating last week in Buffalo. Pittsburgh is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games and are 4-7-1 ATS in its last 12 games when playing Baltimore. The Ravens went 3-1 in the month of November and if not for a late game surge by Matt Ryan and the Falcons they could have gone perfect. QB Joe Flacco looks like he has shook his early season troubles and now leads a very potent Ravens offense. RB Ray Rice is arguably the best back in the league right now and he poises threats everywhere over the field for opposing defenses. Factor in the Ravens being 5-0 SU at home in their last 5 and the Ravens by a field goal looks a whole lot more secure. Baltimore is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games when playing at home against Pittsburgh. They have already won the first meeting of the season and I expect them to complete the series sweep on Sunday night, which should solidify the AFC North. Take a look at the Ravens with the points. Cheers!

Prediction = Ravens -3
