Texas Christian at Utah. There isn’t any other way to say it: it’s a MONSTER game in the Mountain West Conference. TCU (#4) is 9-0 while Utah (#6) is 8-0. There couldn’t be a bigger game in the conference (history?) and the championship is on the line when these two get together in Salt Lake City on Saturday. The Utes may be looking to exact a measure of revenge after last year’s humbling 55-28 defeat at the hands of the Horned Frogs. However, Utah had won their three previous meetings against their MWC counterparts and will be looking for their third consecutive home triumph over TCU. With both defenses ranked in the top six nationally look for that to be a prevailing reason the score doesn’t get to what it was last season.

Texas Christian has been simply awesome this year. They are tops in the country in total defense, pass defense and scoring defense while coming in ninth nationally in rush defense. With those kind of statistics it’s no wonder why they have only given up 16 points in their last five games. If you stop to marvel at it—it really is unbelievable. But, they won’t be going up against they Wyoming’s and Colorado State’s of the world. They’ll b up against a capable Utah offense that has only been prevented scoring 30+ points twice all year. The Ute offense is 20th in the country in total yardage and 4th in points scored. While it will be a massive upgrade from the offenses the Horned Frogs have seen of late— it won’t be a huge deal for a TCU team that is simply unstoppable. A real key in the game for the Horned Frogs will be how they can move the ball down the field against a most capable Utah defense. If they can get the kind of production they have had recently from quarterback Andy Dalton and running back Ed Wesley then they should be just fine.
Let’s just say this: the Utah fans will be jacked up. It’s been a longtime since they’ve been in a game this big. Their Sugar Bowl matchup versus Georgia a few years ago was big but there has never been a game this big in the history of Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Utah defense has been impressive in their own right. They have only surrendered 35 points in their last three games and if they can hold the TCU offense to less than 20 points then they mat have a chance in this titanic battle of MWC unbeatens. It may sound plain and simple but the key for Utah in this game is the scoring. Their defense is very, very good but if they can’t get some offense out of a previously impressive unit against a dynamite TCU defense then they have little chance. The home crowd will be electric and it should make for one of the top college football games of the season.

TCU vs. Utah Predictions for Week 10:
Spread Prediction (Top Play) –Texas Christian is that good. There is really no other way to say it. They have been in top gear ever since a 45-10 drubbing of a very good Baylor team. The Horned Frogs have been efficient on both sides of the ball and simply dominating. The visiting Frogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 November games and 23-9-1 in their last 33 conference games. TCU could start slow with the kind of gameday atmosphere that should be generated amongst the Ute supporters but it won’t disguise the fact they are the better team, with better talent, better experience and a better defense. That should make the difference in this (hopefully) epic, epic game.
Game Total Prediction – There is two ways to look at this: both offenses have been steamrolling their opposition and that should continue. Or, both defenses are so good that no offense will be moving the ball on them with the kind of regularity they would have against lesser defenses. We’ll go with the latter. TCU has an all-world defense while Utah isn’t too far behind. The Under is 5-0 in TCU’s last five conference games while the Under is also prevalent in four of Utah’s last give games as an underdog. We’ll go with that.
