- Alabama and Georgia have opened as co-betting favorites to win the 2022 National Championship.
- Ohio State and Clemson are the only other teams with odds shorter than +1000 at +600 and +800, respectively.
- Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and USC are all listed at +3500.
Alabama and Georgia could be on a collision course for a third National Championship game meeting in 2022.
That’s because according to online sportsbook BetMGM, the Tide and Bulldogs are the co-favorites to win at +200:

Georgia defeated Alabama 33-18 on Monday night, shortly before the 2022 odds were released, to win their first National Championship in 41 years. The win was sweet revenge for the Bulldogs after the Tide defeated them 41-24 in the 2021 SEC Championship game.
Alabama won the first and only other CFP title game meeting between these two powerhouse programs in 2018.
Pressure Will Be High on Alabama
Alabama enter offseason as 2022-23 favorites. The sting is still there from last night but they will be back. Pressure will be high to live up to the expectations after getting there on a rebuilding year. #RollTide https://t.co/zfUjLCdUpi

Pressure will be high for ‘Bama who will have to live up to the expectations after getting to the title game this season on what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. The Tide will be returning with 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and potential 2023 NFL Draft top pick Will Anderson. Nick Saban will also have the luxury of having a bevy of talent across the board to help Young and Anderson earn redemption.
Meanwhile, the 2021 champions Bulldogs are not expected to return CFP title game MVP Stetson Bennett next season. Bennett has been in the Bulldogs roster for four seasons and has spent a year playing junior college football. Technically, Bennett can still play next season if he chooses to, with the NCAA giving an extra year of eligibility to players on team rosters during the COVID-19 ravaged 2020 season.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said last Tuesday that he “hopes Stet comes back for another year”. It’s not that Bennett is highly regarded in the draft either so who knows. But if not, forme five-star recruit Brock Vandagriff will likely be the Bulldogs’ 2022 starter at quarterback.

Another usual suspect, Ohio State, is currently the third favorite at +600 via BetMGM. The Buckeyes will be bringing back QB CJ Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as well as running back TreVeyon Henderson on a high-powered offense. Clemson is the only other team with odds below +1000 at +800. The Tigers had a 10-3 season in 2021 and should bounce back in 2022 after a rough season. However, they will be without coordinators Tony Elliott and Brent Venables who left to accept head coaching jobs.
Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas A&M, and USC are all listed at +3500. The surprise team here is USC as the best NCAAF betting sites likely reflected prized quarterback Caleb Williams potentially joining his former coach at Oklahoma, Lincoln Riley, in Los Angeles.
Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Georgia have accounted for 19 out of the 32 College Football Playoff spots available over the past eight seasons. Oklahoma and Notre Dame are the only other teams to enter the College Football Playoff multiple times at four and two, respectively.
