- The Atlanta Falcons are considering trading their 4th pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
- Teams like the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and the Washington Football Team could be possible suitors for the 4th pick.
- With this development, it looks like Matt Ryan will be staying in Atlanta for the foreseeable future.
With the Top 3 picks of the 2021 NFL Draft seemingly settled already, the big question now is what the Atlanta Falcons will do with the 4th overall pick of the draft.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Falcons are thinking about selling their 4tth overall pick and moving down in the draft.
With teams locked into the first three overall picks, the Atlanta Falcons now have received trade calls from multiple teams and “are open to moving” out of the No. 4 spot, per source.

While Shefter didn’t name the specific teams in his report, there could be several possible suitors if the Falcons indeed end up putting their 4th pick on the discussion table.
Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace has announced that “everything is on the table” as far as their quarterback situation is concerned so they could be one of the prospects. The Denver Broncos are rumored to be shopping for a new starting QB after Drew Lock didn’t live up to expectations in his 18 starts with the team.
Then there are also those who believe that the New England Patriots could be in the market for a QB with Cam Newton only signed to another one-year deal and Jarrett Stidham looking more like a backup than a future starter. The Washington Football team signed Ryan Fitzpatrick but only to a one year deal as well.
Staying in Atlanta

If the Falcons do end up trading down in the draft, it most certainly means that they aren’t looking to draft a quarterback. Five out of the Top 7 betting favorites in the 2021 NFL Draft oddsboard are quarterbacks. And with three of them expected to get off the board with the first three picks, there won’t be any franchise QB left if the Falcons move down.
So if Atlanta isn’t drafting a QB, then they are sticking it out with Matt Ryan who won MVP honors in 2016 when he led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI, where they lost to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. If the Falcons are indeed sticking with Ryan, they will be using their pick to draft an impact position player like Penei Sewell, Kyle Pitts, or Ja’Marr Chase.
Right now, it’s too early to tell how the dominos will fall on Draft Day and how Atlanta will . But the Falcons are in a luxury position at no. 4. They can either use it to draft the quarterback of their future, or they can trade down and get a top non-quarterback prospect. They have until draft day to make that decision.
