Bellator’s 2021 Return is Now Just One Month Away!
2020 ended up being a fairly successful year for many of the world’s MMA promotions. Bellator began resuming its operations back in July of last year. It then started holding regular events throughout the US and Europe.
On December 10, Bellator held its final event of 2020. The promotion has been coming up with its plans for 2021 ever since. On April 2, Bellator will finally hold its first event of the year. It’s looking like a good one, featuring a world title fight against two of the best featherweights on the planet.
Patricio Freire will be making another defense of his title against Emmanuel Sanchez on this card. These two men are clearly at the top of the pack at 145 pounds. If Patricio wins, it could solidify his standing as one of the best featherweights alive right now.
The co-main event of this event will be exciting, too. Usman Nurmagomedov, the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov, will be competing in his first Bellator fight against Mike Hamel. There is plenty of hype surrounding the debut of Usman here.
Bellator will hold several amazing cards throughout April and May. That includes the highly-anticipated clash between Yoel Romero and Anthony Johnson. The entire Bellator light-heavyweight tournament is expected to be fantastic.
The promotion’s prospects are starting to get booked into fights right now. We can now add “The Strabanimal” to that list. Here’s what we know about James Gallagher’s return!
Gallagher vs. Mix is Officially Set to Take Place on May 7
Bellator has gained a reputation for taking young MMA prospects and turning them into world champions. The promotion has succeeded with this on several occasions. Some believe that James Gallagher has what it takes to become a title holder in the future.
He still has some tests ahead, though. Gallagher has been criticized for his lack of high-level opponents lately. On May 7, he will take a major step up in competition to take on Patchy Mix. It’s the Irishman’s toughest MMA challenge to date.

Casual fans may be unaware of Patchy Mix. The 13-1 has gone 2-1 in Bellator with his only loss coming against former title challenger Juan Archuleta. At 27 years old, Mix has plenty of time to earn a championship opportunity.
This is an amazing bout for the bantamweight division. The winner will likely end up just a couple of fights away from a world title. The loser could find themselves relegated to “gatekeeper” for the rest of Bellator’s bantamweights.
Odds for this bout have not yet become available. That will likely change over the next couple of days. Many are curious to see how the oddsmakers will view this contest. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Galagher enter as the slight underdog.
The next few months will be huge for Bellator MMA. The promotion has some amazing events planned to take place throughout 2021. We’ll be sure to offer more information on Gallagher vs. Mix as the fight draws closer!
Here’s How to Bet on Bellator’s Light-Heavyweight Tournament
On April 9, the first leg of the Bellator light-heavyweight tournament will officially take place. This is perhaps the most exciting tournament the promotion has ever put on. Each of the eight men competing here is capable of becoming a world champion.
Ryan Bader and Lyoto Machida will be fighting in the main event of April 9’s card. This is a rematch of a fight that took place back in 2012. Lyoto famously won that bout via knockout in the second round. Fans can now head over to BetOnline to bet on all of the bouts taking place on this card.
Interestingly, Bader comes into this fight as the -350 favorite. Machida comes in as the +275 underdog. The winner here may be expected to eventually make it into the finals of this amazing tournament.
There’s no doubt that the fight between Yoel Romero and Anthony Johnson is the biggest fight of this entire tournament. Both are former UFC title challengers. Romero comes in as the -130 favorite and Johnson is currently listed as the +100 underdog.
Bellator is holding some amazing fights this year. Gallagher vs. Mix will be one that fans around the world tune in to see.
