Ben Rothwell And Marcos Rogerio UFC

  • Ben Rothwell has opened as the -150 betting favorite to beat Marcos Rogerio De Lima at UFC Fight Night 197.
  • Rothwell’s last three losses have come in fights where he was listed as the odds on favorite.
  • De Lima, who enters the bout at +130, was listed as the betting underdog in each of his last three losses.

The betting odds for the heavyweight bout between Ben Rothwell and Marcos Rogerio De Lima are out and according to the best UFC sportsbooks, Big Ben is the slight betting favorite to beat Pezao:

Rothwell and De Lima are scheduled to fight on November 13th, in the undercard of UFC Fight Night 197 which will be headlined by Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez.

Rothwell Taps Out Chris Barnett

Rothwell heads to this fight coming off a submission win over up-and-comer Chris Barnett last May 22nd. That win put behind an upset loss against Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Island 5. Prior to that defeat, Big Ben won back-to-back bouts against Stefan Struve and Ovince Saint Preux. Overall, he has a record of 39-13 with 28 knockouts and seven submission victories.

Big Ben has been tough to read as far as betting odds are concerned. He has been the betting underdog twice in his last seven bouts and he won both times he had the plus money sign next to his name. Big Ben submitted Josh Barnett in 2016 as a +120 underdog. He was also a +130 bottom dog when he outpointed Ovince Saint Preux via split decision in May of last year. However, Rothwell’s last three losses have come as the betting favorite.

He was a -120 betting favorite when he lost on points to Blagoy Ivanov in March 2019. Four months after that, he dropped another decision against former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. Then last October 2020, Rothwell lost via decision to Marcin Tybura in a fight where he was listed as the -150 betting favorite. Rothwell was also a sizeable -355 odds on favorite when he lost to Mark Hunt via unanimous decision in 2011.

De Lima Smothers Maurice Greene

De Lima also enters this bout on a winning note. In his most recent assignment De Lima smothered veteran Maurice Greene en route to a dominant unanimous decision win. The victory continued a seesaw streak where he’s alternated between wins and losses in his last 10 bouts. De Lima has not won more than one fight since starting his UFC career with back-to-back wins over Richardson Moreira and Igor Pokrajac in 2014.

The Brazilian meanwhile, had the plus money sign next to his name in his last three losses. De Lima was listed as the +145 underdog when he was beaten by Ovince Saint Preux in 2017. Pezao was also an even money bottom dog when he was submitted by Stefan Struve in February 2019. In his most recent defeat, De Lima was a huge +400 underdog against Alexander Romanov at UFC Vegas 13. Interestingly, all three losses were via submission.

Pezao has an overall record of 18-7 with 13 wins via knockout and two by way of submission. He has consistently defeated the opponents that he was supposed to beat but has also come up short every time he fought a marquee name. Rothwell could very well be the biggest name he’s ever faced. We’ll see if anything changes for De Lima this time around.
