Amanda Ribas will have the backing of the best UFC sportsbooks when she meets Michelle Waterson in the UFC’s Fight Night event on March 26th.

The UFC’s 9th ranked strawweight opened as the sizable -350 betting favorite with Waterson, the promotion’s 11th ranked strawweight, came back at +280:

The event is expected to take place at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic in the main event.

Amanda Ribas Bounces Back to Outstrike Virna Jandiroba

Ribas bounced back from a TKO loss to Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257 by outstriking former Invicta FC strawweight champion Virna Jandiroba en route to a unanimous decision win at UFC 267 at Fight Island. Prior to her loss to Rodriguez, Ribas had won five straight bouts, including her first four in the UFC.

The 28-year old from Minas Gerais, Brazil began her fighting career in Brazil where she became the Jungle Fight strawweight champion and Max Fight strawweight champion. She jumped ship to the UFC in 2019 and picked up notable wins over Emily Whitmire, Mackenzie Dern, Randa Markos, and Paige Van Zant before suffering her first UFC loss. Ribas is 11-2 with three knockouts and four submission victories.

She will be the betting favorite for the fifth time in seven UFC appearances. Ribas was the -160 favorite when she beat Jandiroba the last time out but was also the heavy -330 favorite when Rodriguez knocked her out. The only times Ribas has seen the plus money sign next to her name were against Dern (+160) and Whitmire (+170) but she won both fights.

Marina Rodriguez Punishes Michelle Waterson

Like Ribas, Waterson’s last defeat came against Marina Rodriguez. In that bout, Rodriguez punished Waterson on the feet and avoided a late charge by the Karate Hottie to emerge victorious by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 26 last May 8th in a flyweight bout. The setback was Waterson’s third in her last four bouts.

The 36-yea old from Aurora, Colorado is a former Invicta FC atomweight champion and was the top-ranked atomweight fighter on the planet from 2013 to 2014. Waterson owns UFC wins over the likes of Angela Hill, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Felice Herrig, and Paige VanZant. She has a record of 18-9 with three knockouts and nine submission wins.

Being the underdog isn’t something new to Waterson who has entered her last eight bouts with the plus money sign written next to her name. The Karate Hottie was the +145 underdog when she beat Angela Hill last September and was the +140 bottom dog when he toppled Kowalkiewicz in 2019. Her previous two wins before those bouts also came at plus money odds.
