With UFC 277 hitting Fight Week, our friends at the BetOnline App have released the early betting results for the five main card bouts.

Interestingly, bettors at BetOnline are favoring the underdogs with two fighters listed at plus money getting more than 70% of the total bets for their respective bout.

Things are Heating Up Between Pena and Nunes

Things have heated up between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes ahead of their rematch which will headline Saturday’s big event. The two rival bantamweights recently had a face-off at the TUF 30 show and it was clear that there is no love lost between these two fighters.

Former champion Nunes is currently listed as the -252 betting favorite to reclaim her belt with the current champion Pena priced at +212 in the UFC 277 main event. According to BetOnline, 70% of the early bets have been made on Pena, making the UFC women’s bantamweight champion the second-most bet fighter in the UFC 277 main card and the most heavily-bet underdog in the event.

Pena upset Nunes as a +700 betting underdog in their first bout at UFC 269. In that bout, Nunes dominated the first round but Pena came back strong in the second round and was able to take Nunes’ back and easily lock in a rear-naked choke that ended the Lioness’ 12-bout winning streak and her stranglehold of the women’s bantamweight division.

Smith Says Ankalaev Not the Bogeyman

The second main card underdog who has gotten the majority of the bets is former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony “Lionheart” Smith who recently said that his UFC 277 opponent, Magomed Ankalaev is no bogeyman. Bettors agree with him as Smith has 69% of the total bets at +400 odds against Ankalaev who is a massive -550 favorite in the bout.

Meanwhile, 55% of the bets for the co-main event have been wagered on Kai Kara-France who is at +165 odds against Brandon Moreno who is pegged at -190 odds. UFC knockout king Derrick Lewis has 51% of the betting slips at +106 odds against Sergei Pavlovich who is the -126 favorite in their heavyweight showdown.

With Askar Askarov out of their July 16th bout, Alex Perez was moved to UFC 277 to fight Alexandre Pantoja. The bout opened as a pick’em fight at the top UFC sportsbooks with both fighters hitting the betting boards at -110 odds. As of the latest BetOnline odds board, Pantoja is now the -163 betting favorite and he is the most heavily-bet fighter in Saturday’s main card with 73% of the tickets against Perez who is now the +143 underdog.
