As many fans are aware, this card will play host to a heavyweight title fight between Joey Beltran and Sam Shewmaker. The undercard is also loaded with fun matchups. Now is the perfect time to take a look at what this event has to offer.
Let’s get into it!
Dave Feldman is Planning Big Fights Throughout 2021
The sport of bare-knuckle boxing has been growing steadily since 2018. That year, Dave Feldman founded the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship. Feldman’s goal was to bring the sport from the underground into the mainstream.
To his credit, Dave knows how to bring in fans. The BKFC President has been working hard to sign big name fighters. Many have come from the UFC. Names like Chris Leben, Gabriel Gonzaga, and Leonard Garcia have all found success in the bare-knuckle game.
Perhaps the biggest signing in the promotion’s history is Paige VanZant. The former UFC star has competed once in the BKFC back in February. Rumors claim she will be taking on fellow star Rachael Ostovich at some point this summer.
This is just one of the many big fights the BKFC plans to put on this year. The promotion has been growing in popularity in a big way lately. Some major celebrities have even expressed a desire to invest into the company.
The BKFC’s most recent show on April 30 was a good one. In June, the BKFC will return with another incredible fight card. We’re now beginning to hear more about the fights scheduled to take place on this card.
It’s a fun time for combat sports fans. Here’s what you need to know about the BKFC event taking place this June.
Here’s an Exciting Update on the BKFC 18 Event in June
Bare-knuckle boxing fans have been treated to some fantastic events over the past few years. If all goes according to plan, 2021 will end up being the most successful year in the BKFC’s history. The event taking place this June appears to be one of the best in recent memory.
Incredibly, four different title fights will take place during the BKC 18 event. In the main event, Joey Beltran and Sam Shewmaker will be fighting for the heavyweight title. It’s an excellent clash between two knockout artists.
Many are also looking forward to seeing the middleweight title fight between Hector Lombard and Jor Riggs. These two men had storied careers in the UFC. Just about everyone believes their fight will produce a knockout.
Former UFC title challenger Thiago Alves is also competing on this card. He is set to fight against Uly Diaz for the welterweight crown. Diaz is coming off a three-second knockout in his last fight and is becoming a star for the BKFC.
A few weeks ago, Dave Feldman also told the media that Wanderlei Silva is expected to make his debut with the BKFC soon. Some feel his first event could be announced to take place on this card.
“[Wanderlei Silva] is going to be fighting,” Feldman said. “He’s been training really, really hard, and that conversation happens tomorrow and then we’re going to give him a list of three different opponents and that’s going to be something great that we want to announce as well.”
The BKFC is busy making the biggest events possible. We’ll be sure to offer more updates on this upcoming card as it draws closer!
What’s Going on With Joshua vs. Fury?
Bare-knuckle boxing is still just beginning to break into the mainstream. The BKFC is already finding success and is likely to grow as the years go on. Of course, the traditional sport of boxing is still considerably more popular overall.
There are some real stars in boxing right now. Many compete in the heavyweight division. Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury both hold heavyweight titles and are at the top of the division’s rankings.
Many fans have been heading over to BetOnline to wager on this event. Unfortunately, it’s still unclear when this bout will take place. Reports surfaced recently that claim these men had agreed to a two-fight deal. Bob Arum then claimed there is no guarantee that they will fight this summer.
Anthony Joshua comes into this fight as the +160 underdog. He is looking better than ever right now and earned a spectacular knockout over Kubrat Pulev in his most recent bout. Some believe his athleticism will be too much for “The Gypsy King.”
Tyson Fury bounced back from a draw with Deontay Wilder and earned a seventh-round TKO win in the rematch. That win solidified his standing as the best heavyweight alive for many fans. In this matchup, he comes in as the -180 favorite.
