- Denver Broncos HC Vic Fangio is the +500 betting favorite to get fired first during the 2021-22 NFL season.
- Fangio has won a combined 12 games during his first two seasons as head coach and the Broncos’ QB uncertainty this season has put him on the hot seat.
- Dallas’ Mike McCarthy (+600), Arizona’s Kliff Kingsbury (+750), and Chicago’s Matt Nagy (+750) complete the Top 4 in the latest SportsBetting.ag oddsboards.
The NFL season hasn’t even started yet but the oddsmakers are already talking about which head coach will be booted out first.
Like the other North American pro sports leagues, head coaching jobs in the NFL are very volatile, especially when a team gets off to a slow start coming off a losing season or two.
That’s the predicament of Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio who has failed to deliver a winning season in his first two season at the helm in Mile High. Because of that, the Broncos may need a strong start if they want to make the playoffs and if Fangio is to keep his job.
Who will be the first NFL Head Coach fired?
Vic Fangio +500
Mike McCarthy +600
Kliff Kingsbury +750
Matt Nagy +750
Zac Taylor +850
Mike Zimmer +900
Jon Gruden +1200
David Culley +1800

According to online sportsbook SportsBetting.ag, Fangio is the odds on favorite to be the first head coach fired during the 2021-22 season at +500. Dallas Cowboys bench tactician Mike McCarthy is second at +600 while Arizona Cardinals’ Kliff Kingsbury and Chicago Bears’ Matt Nagy are tied in third spot at +750.
Teams Chances Died Down With Aaron Rodgers Rumors
As the rumors of Aaron Rodgers potentially coming to the Broncos died down, so did the team’s chances of winning Super Bowl LVI, according to oddsmakers. https://t.co/0JzkL1yD2P

There were high hopes for the Broncos early in the offseason. Denver had the best odds aside from Green Bay to land Aaron Rodgers when the latter was having issues with him team. But when Rodgers decided to return to the Packers, the Broncos’ chances of winning Super Bowl LVI died down with those rumors.
The Broncos have the 21st best odds to win the next NFL championship at 5000 via the BetOnline App. Denver is also currently listed at +5000 at BetMGM and +4500 at the Caesars Sportsbook, very far from their +2000 odds at William Hill during the height of Rodgers’ holdout.
Denver is a -190 favorite NOT to make the playoffs this season and the Broncos are also a -150 chalk to win just 5-9 games next season. Their win total has been set at 8.5 wins with the over and under both going at -115. They have missed the playoffs during the last five seasons including the last two under Fangio whee they won a combined 12 games.
Broncos’ Quarterback Situation
The tight-lipped head coach said the battle for the Broncos starting quarterback between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater was too close to call. https://t.co/ZvhgYOoRSU

One of the main reasons why Denver went below the .500 mark during Fangio’s first two seasons is stability in the quarterback position. With Rodgers out of the equation, he will now have to pick between Terry Bridgewater and Drew Lock.
Currently, Lock is the -115 odds on favorite to be QB1 while Bridgewater is listed at even money. Brett Rypien is third at +700 while the option for others is pegged at +2000. But regardless of the odds, it will ultimately be Fangio who will chose and after their first preseason game, Fangio said it was “too close too call”.
With the NFL regular season less than a month away, this uncertainty has put Fangio on the hot seat. Factor in his record during his first two seasons as head coach, you won’t need rocket science to understand why the oddsmakers think he’s the first head coach to get the pink slip next season.
