  • Tampa Bay Head coach Bruce Arians said Antonio Brown looked fantastic during his first workout with the Bucs.
  • Brown officially signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers last Tuesday.
  • Tampa Bay has surged with the second shortest odds to win Super Bowl LV at +650.

Just days after warning Antonio Brown to “be a team player or be gone”, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians is all praises for his newly-signed wide receiver.

Brown reported to the Bucs practice one day after officially signing with the team. Although he is not eligible to play until Week 9, Brown is allowed to attend team meetings and work out with the team’s strength and conditioning coaches.

And after just one day at the office, Brown already made an impact on Arians. Said the Bucs coach:

“He looks fantastic. I think we had really good conversations today, he and I. He was in the meetings and everything. And he’s working with Anthony Piroli and the strength staff. He looks in great shape. Yeah, ready to go next week.”

Officially Signed

Brown officially signed with the Buccaneers last Tuesday but is still listed under the team’s suspended/reserve list while serving the final week of his suspension. He will resume his NFL career in Week 9 after an 18 month hiatus that included bad exits in Pittsburgh and Oakland. Brown was also the subject of a sexual misconduct case which in part led to his ouster from New England then this current eight week suspension.

But AB has been mostly quiet in the recent months as he is attempting to return to the league he once dominated. Brown was the NFL’s most prolific receiver from 2013-18. During that period, he became the first player in league history to catch at least 100 passes in six consecutive seasons. His best season came in 2015 where he caught 136 passes for 1,834 yards and 10 touchdowns despite Ben Roethlisberger missing four games that year.

He was in the MVP conversation in 2017 when a lower body injury prevented him from playing Pittsburgh’s last two regular season games. Despite playing hurt, Brown caught seven passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns during their divisional playoff loss to the Jaguars.

Bucs Looking To Win it All

Brown will join a Tampa Bay team that has scored 83 points in their last two games played. After seven games, Tom Brady has thrown for 18 touchdowns with only four interceptions. During their last game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Bucs offense totalled 454 yards with 29 first downs while going five out of six in the red zone.

For all his individual accolades, Brown has yet to win the Lombardi trophy. He came close during his rookie season but the Steelers lost to the Packers in Super Bowl XLV He now joins a team that has been remodeled to win it all this season.

Tampa Bay has an impressive wide receiver corps led by Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Scott Miller. Tampa Bay also signed Brady’s favorite target Rob Gronkowski during the offseason. The team also signed running back Leonard Fournette after his release from the Jaguars. With six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady playing behind center, the Bucs are tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the second best odds to win Super Bowl LV at +650.
