Ferreira won six out of his first eight UFC assignments, including wins over the likes of Olivier Aubin-Mercer, Jared Nelson, Rustam Khabilov, and former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. However, he’s hit a snag as of late with three consecutive losses. In his most recent bout, Mateusz Gamrot beat Ferreira via second-round TKO with a wicked knee to the ribs.
The 37-year-old from Amazonas, Brazil is a former Legacy FC lightweight champion and STFC lightweight title holder. Ferreira joined the UFC in 2014 and had an auspicious debut, submitting Colton Smith in just 38 seconds at UFC Fight Night 44. The victory earned Ferreira the first of five total post-fight bonuses in the UFC. The Brazilian has a record of 17-5 with three knockouts and seven submission wins.
This marks the sixth time in his last nine bouts where Ferreira has opened as the betting favorite. He closed with the minus money sign written next to his name in six of those bouts but was the +245 betting underdog when he fought Gamrot the last time out.
