- The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best ATS record in the NBA at 8-3 ATS through 11 games.
- Cleveland’s 7-4 start is their best since going 9-2 in their first 11 games during the 2016-17 season.
- The Atlanta Hawks, who made the Eastern Conference finals last season, have the worst ATS record at 3-9 ATS.
Don’t look now but the Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the league when it comes to points spread betting this season.
According to figures from Bet_Labs, the Cavs are 8-3 ATS in 11 games played this season. Meanwhile, the equally surprising Washington Wizards are next at 7-3 ATS in their first 10 games of the year. The Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Chicago Bulls are all in the same 7-3 ATS boat. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors, who have the league’s best record at 9-1, are 6-3-1 ATS so far this season.
On the other hand, 2021 Eastern Conference finalists Atlanta is the worst ATS team this season at 3-9 ATS in 12 games played. The Minnesota Timberwolves are next at 2-7 ATS while the inconsistent Los Angeles Lakers are at 3-8 ATS in 11 games. Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are also just 3-7 ATS in 10 games played so far this season.
Best Start Since the 2016-17 Season

Not much was expected of the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. The Cavs opened as a +50000 longshot to win the 2022 NBA title and are still at that price in the latest BetMGM championship odds board. Cleveland opened as a +2000 to make the playoffs and they are still listed at those odds right now. Vegas experts predicted that they would open the season 0-12 but they are so much better than that right now.
Through 11 games, the Cavs ae 7-4 SU and 8-3 ATS. They are currently 2nd in the Central Division and 6th in the Eastern Conference. What makes the Cavs start impressive is that eight of their first 11 games have been on the road, and 10 of their total games have been against opponents who either made the playoff or the play-in tournament last season. At 7-4, this is the team’s best start since going 9-2 during the 2016-17 season.
Surprisingly, the Cavs are 5-3 SU and 6-2 ATS in their eight road games. Having played so many games on the road early on, the Cavs will get to play at home more often in the coming weeks. Eight out of Cleveland’s next nine games will be at home, starting with Wednesday’s showdown against the equally surprising Washington Wizards who are 7-3 SU and ATS to start the season.

While the Cavs are surprisingly good, the Atlanta Hawks are surprisingly terrible to start the season. Atlanta entered the year with +3500 odds to win the championship and a -650 to make the playoffs at BetMGM. The Hawks were also installed as the second favorites in the Southeast Division at +125, slightly behind Miami’s +120.
But the Hawks are just 4-8 to start the season and have currently lost five straight games while also failing to cover the betting spread in all five games. Atlanta is just 18th in the league in scoring at 107.4 points per game and they have the fourth-worst defense in the league at 112.2 points per 100 possessions allowed.
The Hawks have played in a total of seven road games so far this season and they are just 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS on the road. Atlanta was just 16-20 away from home last season but was able to win big games on the road during the playoffs. However, with the way they are starting the current campaign, they might not even make the postseason this year.
