Miami hosts Game 1 and has opened as the -2.5 point spread and -135 Moneyline favorites to beat the Celtics in the season opener. However, online sportsbook BetOnline says that Boston is the -150 odds on favorite to win the series with Miami coming back at +130 odds. But if BetOnline’s series odds are surprising, wait till you see the other top NBA betting sites.
The Celtics are an even bigger -155 favorite at Unibet and Bet365 UA with the Heat listed at +127 at both sportsbooks. BetMGM and the Borgata Online have Boston at -165 and Miami at +135 while the Caesars Sportsbook has the Celtics at -170 and the Heat at +140 Meanwhile, the FD Sportsbook has the shortest odds for Boston at -175 while the Heat have their longest odds there at +145.
There’s no questioning Miami’s ability to win in the playoffs. This is a team whose core played in the 2020 NBA Finals where they lost to the L.A. Lakers. Miami’s season ended at the hands of the Bucks via a sweep last season but they have bounced back strong this year as the no. 1 team in the East. However, Boston is coming off an impressive series win wherein they eliminated the defending champions in a thrilling playoff matchup.

Boston took down the 2022 NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 on Sunday. Although Boston was a -5.5 point spread favorite to win that game, getting there wasn’t easy. The Celtics blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead in Game 5 and allowed the Bucks to take a 3-2 series lead. But Boston bounced back with a spirited Game 6 effort to send the series to a winner-take-all Game 7 in Boston.
Game 7 itself wasn’t a walk in the park. The Celtics and Bucks went back and forth in the first half and the game was tied at 40-40 with two minutes left in the opening half. Boston outscored Milwaukee 8-3 to close the half and take a 48-43 lead at the break. Then Boston just exploded off the gates in the third quarter with a barrage of three-pointers that broke the game wide open.
Milwaukee didn’t give up without a fight. But Boston sank a Game 7 record 22 three-pointers on 55 attempts while limiting the Bucks to only 4-19 shooting from deep or a massive difference of 54 points ( on 18 three-pointers made ) from three-point distance. The Celtics also held down the Bucks to their lowest output of the series while matching their lowest-scoring game of the 2022 playoffs in an impressive defensive performance.
