  • Collin Morikawa is the odds on favorite to win the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town.
  • Morikawa is also the most popular bet with 8% of the bets and 11% of the money.
  • Cam Smith is the second-most popular bet with 7% of the tickets and 7% of the betting handle.

Collin Morikawa isn’t just the odds on favorite to win the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. He is also the most popular bet to win the tournament.

Morikawa opened at +1400 in the annual post-Masters tournament. But since then, his odds have shortened to +1200 at the best golf betting sites. Despite having the shortest odds among all golfers entered in the tournament, Morikawa is also the most popular bet at online sportsbook BetMGM.

According to early data from the said betting site, Morikawa has 8% of the total betting tickets issued and 11% of the total money wagered for the event. As such, he is also the biggest liability at BetMGM.

Morikawa Back to No. 2

Morikawa’s solo 5th place finish at the Masters meant that he has a Top-5 finish in all four Majors. Last Monday morning, Morikawa found himself back to no. 2 in the Official World Golf Rankings behind Masters winner Scottie Scheffler. With Scheffler not in the RBC field, Morikawa as odds on favorite was a no-brainer.

Second behind Morikawa in the BetMGM odds board is Justin Thomas at +1300 who finished T8 at Augusta. Thomas is the 4th most popular bet with 5% of the total betting tickets and 6% of the total money wagered. However, JT’s odds to finish in the Top 5 are shorter than Morikawa’s at +250 versus +333. Thomas is also a +140 to finish in the Top 10, better than Morikawa’s +170.

The second-most bet golfer at BetMGM is Cam Smith at +1400 who has 7% of the bets and 7% of the total handle. Tied with Smith for the second-most betting handle is Matt Fitzpatrick who is currently listed at +2000. Meanwhile, Shane Lowry at +2200 is third behind Morikawa and Smith with 5% of the total betting slips written.

Dustin Johnson is Getting His Swagger Back

Former world no. 1 Dustin Johnson is getting his swagger back. After dropping to 11th in the Official World Golf Rankings following the Valspar Championships, he’s returned to the Top 10 with a 4th place finish at the WGC-Dell Match Play and a T12 performance at the 2022 Masters.

Still, DJ saw his odds at BetMGM drop from +1600 to +2000. Johnson has 3.7% of the bets and 3.4% of the betting money at the said sportsbook. Jordan Spieth, who dropped to 20th in the OWGR after missing the cut at Augusta is listed at +4000. He has 2% of the bets and 2% of the betting handle.

Other notable names on the BetMGM RBC Heritage odds boards are Patrick Cantlay at +2000, Corey Conners at +2500, and Daniel Berger at +2800. Berger is the second biggest liability at BetMGM behind Morikawa. Joaquin Niemann, Russell Henley, Sungjae Im, and Web Simpson are all listed at +3300 odds.
