Bettors Picking Colts to Finish with NFL’s Best Record in 2022

Indianapolis Colts Money NFL Background

  • The Indianapolis Colts have the most betting handle to finish with the NFL’s best record in 2022.
  • Indianapolis also has seen the most lopsided action in the NFL division futures market.
  • The Colts acquired QB Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons during the offseason.

The Indianapolis missed the playoffs last season after losing their final regular season game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the Colts have regrouped and have acquired veteran QB Matt Ryan to lead them this season.

Ryan’s arrival in Indianapolis has caused an upward movement on the Colts’ futures odds and bettors at Caesars Sportsbook have made them the most heavily-bet team in the NFL Division futures betting market and the most popular bet to finish with the league’s best record.

Matt Ryan Propels Colts to Favorites in AFC South, and More

Indianapolis opened with the second-best odds to win the AFC South at +145, behind the Tennessee Titans who were at -120. Since acquiring QB Matt Ryan, the Colts have since supplanted the Titans at the top of the division betting boards and as of the latest Caesars Sportsbook odds board, Indianapolis is not listed at -120 odds with Tennessee falling back to +160. The Baltimore Ravens are the only other team currently on top of the divisional odds boards after not opening as the odds-on favorite.

But not only have the Colts moved up to the top of the division betting boards, but they are also the most popular bet to win any division. The Colts have amassed 52.5% of the total betting tickets and a huge 71.3% of the total betting handle to win the AFC South, the most lopsided action among all NFL teams for division futures.

Bettors are also high on the Colts finishing with the league’s best record. Indianapolis has the 11th best odds to finish with the NFL’s best record this season at +2000 odds but they have the most betting handle among all teams to finish with the league’s best record and rank second behind the Buffalo Bills with the most tickets. Buffalo is a +250 co-favorite with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to finish as the top regular season team.

Colts Have an Easy Schedule

The Colts head to the 2022 season with the 6th easiest schedule in the NFL with their opponents having a combined 2021 record of 135-153-1 or a winning percentage of .469. That is the reason why Indianapolis has the third-most lopsided OVER win total wager with 92.9% of the tickets and 95.8% of the betting handle wagered on the OVER 9.5 wins. Whether they will go OVER the win total high enough, remains to be seen.

Indianapolis is also a -170 favorite to make the playoffs and just a +140 to miss it. But while they are picked to make the postseason, oddsmakers aren’t too high on them winning it all this season. The Colts opened at +2500 odds to win Super Bowl LVII. While they are tied for the 12th shortest odds to win the Lombardi Trophy, Indianapolis is just 15th in betting tickets at 2.6% and 16th in betting handle with 2.3%.

Caesars has reported receiving an $11,000 bet on the Colts to win Super Bowl LVII at +2500 odds or a potential win of $275,000. According to the said online sportsbook, it’s the fourth largest Super Bowl LVII bet that they have taken so far.
