On Tuesday, it was the National League’s turn to see a shift in its MVP betting boards as St. Louis Cardinals’ first baseman Paul Goldschmidt overtook Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts.

Goldschmidt entered Tuesday’s game at +400 odds, trailing Mookie Betts’ +325 price. But after he went 4-4 with two homers and 5 RBIs in the Cardinals’ 9-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 2 of their Tuesday double-header, Goldschmidt moved to the top of the NL MVP betting boards with his +240 odds while Betts dropped to +350.
He is also the new +250 odds on favorite at BetMGM, PointsBet US, and Borgata Online with Betts falling back to +350 via BetMGM and Borgata while also coming in at +300 via PointsBet US. He is also the new favorite but at a longer, +275 odds via Bet365 US with Betts listed at +325 at that sportsbook. Meanwhile, Goldschmidt’s shortest odds are at +220 via FD Sportsbook where Betts is priced at +360.
Goldy opened with +5000 odds to win NL MVP honors at the best MLB betting sites. His odds fell to as low as +8000 before the start of the season but saw his odds shoot up to +1000 at the end of last month after he was named the National League Player of the Month for the first month of the season.

Goldschmidt is coming off a huge month of May where he led the majors in OPS at 1.288 and the National League in batting average at .404. He also led MLB with 33 RBIs last month and ranked second behind Betts in the NL with 10 home runs. The impressive performance led to Goldschmidt being named the National League Player of the Month in May 2022, his second award with the Cardinals, and the third such award of his career.
The Cardinals’ first baseman has continued his stellar play in June with three multi-hit games, a .340 batting average, five home runs, and 13 RBIs. He has hit a home run in three consecutive games entering Wednesday’s schedule. Last Tuesday, Goldschmidt became the fifth Cardinal to hit three home runs in a double-header in the last 70 years. Goldschmidt also became the first player since Ty Cobb in 1925 to record 9+ hits, 9+ RBIs, 6+ runs scored, 5+ extra-base hits, 4+ home runs, and zero strikeouts during a two-game span.
For the season, he leads the National League in batting average at .349. He is also the NL leader in hits with 81 and an on-base percentage at .431. Goldy is also third in the league in RBIs with 56 and home runs with 16. His .444 batting average with runners in scoring position is second overall and the best by a Cardinals player since Allen Craig’s .454 in 2013.
