Ja Morant Now Second in the Most Improved Player Award Oddsboards

Most Improved Player NBA Ja Morant And Jordan Poole

  • Ja Morant has gone up the Most Improved Player odds boards after a strong start to his 2021-22 season.
  • Morant now has the second-best odds to win the award at +1000 via the Barstool Sportsbook.
  • His Memphis Grizzlies are a -130 favorite to win over 41.5 games and are a -105 to make the playoffs for the second straight season.

After he was named the 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year, the sky was touted as Ja Morant’s limit.

Morant beat Zion Williamson for the top rookie award during his first NBA season and then led the Memphis Grizzlies to the playoffs in only his second year in the league.

Now entering his third NBA campaign, Morant is under strong consideration to win his second NBA individual award this season – the Most Improved Player Award, after he is off to a fast start.

One of the Favorite Contenders

Morant was considered as one of the favorite contenders to win the 2021-22 NBA Most Improved Player award. But when the earliest MIP odds boards were released, Morant’s name wasn’t even among the Top 8 with the likes of Michael Porter Jr, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Kevin Porter Jr. among the early names on top of the betting boards at the best NBA sportsbooks.

Denver’s Michael Porter Jr. and OKC Thunder’s Gilgeous- Alexander opened as the co-betting favorites at +1200 while Cleveland’s Kevin Porter Jr. had the next best odds at +1600 but after a strong start to his 2021-22 campaign, Morant has seen his odds move from +3000 to +1000 at the Barstool Sportsbook, with only the current odds on favorite, Golden State’s Jordan Poole, having shorter odds than him at +700.

Morant is also now in the second spot at +1000 via PointsBet with Poole listed at +800. Ja is also second to Poole’s +800 at +1100 via FoxBet. Meanwhile, both the Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM have him tied with Michael Porter Jr. at +1200 and behind Poole who is listed at +800.

Ja Morant is Coming

Ja opened his 2021-22 season with a monster 37-point game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and followed that up with a 28 points and 8 assists game against the L.A. Clippers. Behind Morant’s strong start, not only has he climbed the MIP oddsboards but his Memphis Grizzlies are off to a 2-0 start to their 2021-22 NBA campaign.

Although the Grizzlies are longshots +10000 to win the 2022 NBA championship and +5000 to win the Western Conference this year, the best NBA betting sites are touting them to have another winning season. Memphis ended a three-year playoff drought by making the postseason last year as the Western Conference’s 8th seed after posting a 38-34 record, their first .500 campaign in four years.

This year, the Grizzlies are a -130 betting favorite to win over 41.5 games and are a -105 to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season. With Ja Morant coming on strong in the Most Improved Player of the Year odds boards, there’s no question that Memphis will be among the teams to watch this season.
