Online sportsbook BetOnline has picked Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant as the even-money odds-on favorite to be the next player on the cover of the popular NBA 2K game series.
With NBA greats like Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James previously featured in the game’s cover, the annual release of the 2K game is heavily expected, not just because of the game itself but as to who the cover player of the year will be.

Ja opened at 50-1 odds of winning the NBA’s MVP award. But he went as short as +800 at the start of March when the Grizzlies solidified their hold of second place in the Western Conference. Memphis ended up finishing as the 2nd seed in the West but after eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, the Grizzlies succumbed to the Golden State Warriors.
Despite getting booted out earlier than expected in the postseason, Morant won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award. He was also named to the All-NBA Second Team, the first Grizzlies player while finishing the season with a career-best 27.4 points per game scoring average. Morant also improved on his rebounding average, putting up a personal best of 5.7 boards per game.
Aside from putting up impressive numbers and leading the Grizzlies to the postseason this year, Morant became a very popular player in the NBA because of his acrobatic shots, electrifying dunks, and game heroics. With his rising stature, there’s no question why Morant is favored to be this year’s NBA 2K23 cover athlete at the BetOnline App.
Jokic Wins Second Straight NBA MVP Award
Jokic opened as the +125 betting favorite to be the next NBA2k cover athlete but is now the second favorite at +300 odds behind Morant. The Joker won a second consecutive MVP award this season, beating out Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the official media tally. Jokic and the Nuggets were ousted in the opening round of the playoffs by the Golden State Warriors.
Tatum is next at +400 and third, he is the highest-ranked player on the NBA 2K Cover odds board that is still playing in the 2022 NBA Finals. Tatum was named as the inaugural Eastern Conference Finals MVP after leading the 2nd seeded Boston Celtics to a Game 7 win over the East top seed Miami Heat. Meanwhile, Embiid is next at +450 odds despite another disappointing finish for his Sixers.
Steph Curry, the current heavy betting favorite to win the 2022 NBA Finals MVP award, has the 5th best odds to be the next cover boy for the NBA 2k game at +500. Chef Curry is also the last player with odds shorter than +1000. Suns’ shooting guard Devin Booker is listed at +2500 odds while Hornets’ sophomore guard LaMelo Ball is next at +2800. Atlanta’s Trae Young has the longest odds at the 2K odds boards at +3300 odds.
