Hermansson has dropped three out of his last five bouts inside the Octagon. In his most recent appearance, The Joker suffered a narrow split decision loss against Sean Strickland at the main event of UFC Vegas 47 last February 5, 2022, at the UFC APEX.
The 34-year-old Swedish-born Norwegian mixed martial artist is currently the no. 8 ranked middleweight in the UFC. A former middleweight champion at the Cage Warriors and Warrior Fight Series Promotions, Hermansson joined the UFC in 2016 and won seven out of his first nine bouts before his recent struggles. Overall, he has a record of 22-7 with 11 knockouts and six submission victories.
This marks only the third time in his last six bouts where Hermannson has opened with the minus money sign written next to his name. He defeated Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC Fight Night 188 in May of last year after opening at –115 odds. However, he was knocked out by recent title challenger Jared Cannonier after opening as a sizable -210 favorite to win their fight at UFC Fight Night 160 back in 2019.

Curtis will be making a short turnaround to face Hermansson. The “Action Man” earned a unanimous decision against Rodolfo Vieira in his previous fight at UFC Vegas 57 just last June 25th. With that victory, Curtis improved his Octagon record to 3-0 with 2 KOs since joining the promotion in November 2021.
The 34-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio is a former welterweight champion from CES MMA, Premier MMA, and Z Promotions. He also fought for PFL where he defeated former UAE Warriors champion Ande Fialho during the inaugural season Professional Fighters League Tournament in 2019. Overall, Curtis has a record of 29-8 with 16 knockouts and one submission victory.
The bout will mark the third time in four UFC bouts where Curtis has opened with the plus money sign written next to his name. The American was the +310 bottom dog when he knocked out Phil Hawes and was the +290 betting underdog during his TKO win over Brendan Allen.
