With the Miami Heat defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals, the Heat’s top player Jimmy Butler has moved to second in the Finals MVP betting boards at the best NBA betting sites.

Butler rallied the Heat from a double-digit deficit in the first half to victory on Tuesday night with one of the best individual performances in the current postseason.

Playoff Jimmy

Butler finished the game with 41 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks to join LeBron James as the only player in NBA playoff history to record a 40-5-5-4-3 stat line. Jimmy also moved past LeBron James and Dwyane Wade with a third 40-5–5 playoff game as a member of the Miami Heat.

It was also Butler’s third 40+ point game in the current postseason. No other player has more and no other player in Heat history has more than two such games in a single postseason. Overall, Butler has recorded five 40+ point games as a member of the Miami Heat. All five games were played in the postseason. The former 30th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft is also the 8th player in the shot clock era to record at least five 40+ games while shooting over 60% from the field.

After averaging 21.4 points and 1.6 steals per game on 48% FG shooting and 23% three-point shooting during the regular season, Butler has upped his numbers to 28.7 points and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 53% from the field and 36% from deep in the postseason. Playoff Jimmy is here and he just took over the Eastern Conference Finals, at least in Game 1.

Butler Moves to Second in Finals MVP Oddsboards

Butler is now second in the 2022 NBA Finals MVP betting boards. At BetMGM, Butler moved from +600 before Game 1 to +350 after. Only Steph Curry at +225 has better odds to win the award than Butler. Of course, Curry’s odds could improve or drift, depending on how he does in Game 1 of the 2022 Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night.

Curry is listed as the +206 favorite at MyBookie.ag while Butler is also second there at +350 and Tatum third at +410 odds. Luka Doncic at +660 is the only other player with odds shorter than +1000. Butler is even listed at a shorter +300 at Bet365 USA with Curry at +200 at the said sportsbook. Tatum meanwhile, is down to +400 followed by Luka Doncic at +650.

There’s no question why the best NBA betting sites have moved Butler to second behind Curry in their Finals MVP betting boards. The Heat star may be the best player in the current playoffs, well at least until Tuesday’s games. But Miami still needs seven more wins to become the new NBA champions. Until then, the Finals MVP race is still a wide-open one.
