The betting odds for the light heavyweight bout between Karl Roberson and Kennedy Nzechukwu are wicked close.

According to the top UFC betting sites, Roberson is the -115 favorite and Nzechuwku the slight -105 betting underdog in their upcoming showdown:

Both men need a win here as Roberson has dropped his last three fights and Nzechukwu losing his last two assignments.

Khalil Rountree Demolishes Karl Roberson

Roberson was last seen at UFC Vegas 50 last March 12th where he was demolished by a barrage of strikes from Khalil Rountree. That defeat wasn’t just the third in a row for Roberson, but it was also the third via stoppage. Prior to that, he suffered back-to-back first-round submission losses to Marvin Vettori and Brendan Allen.

The 31-year-old from Neptune, New Jersey is a former kickboxer who competed for GLORY. Roberson transitioned to MMA in 2015 and made appearances for Ring of Combat, CFFC, and Shogun Fights. He joined the Contender Series where he knocked out Ryan Spann to earn a UFC deal. After a decent 4-2 start, he has struggled with three consecutive defeats. Roberson has a record of 9-5 with two knockouts and four submission victories.

In his five UFC losses, Roberson has been beaten from the favorite spot twice. He closed as the -120 odds on favorite to beat Rountree in his last bout and was the -130 odds on favorite when he suffered his first UFC loss against Ceza Ferreira at UFC 224 in May 2018.

Nicolae Negumereanu Defeats Kennedy Nzechukwu via SD

Meanwhile, Kennedy Nzechukwu dropped a close split decision against Nicolae Neumereanu at UFC 272 last March 5th. One fight back, the Nigerian-born fighter was knocked out by a vicious elbow from Da Un Jung at UFC Vegas 42 last November 13, 2021.

The 29-year-old Nzechukwu began his MMA career at the XKO promotion. He made a pair of appearances at the Contender Series, winning both fights including a TKO of Dennis Bryant in 2018 which got him a ticket to the UFC. Nzechukwu won three out of his first four UFC bouts before his current funk. Overall, he has a record of 9-3 with six knockouts.

This will only be the third time in his UFC career where Nzechukwu has opened as the betting underdog and the first time that he opened as a minus-money bottom dog. Nzechukwu closed at +150 odds against Danilo Marques and at +185 odds against Carlos Ulberg. He won both bouts via TKO.
