  • Corral set an SEC record with three passing TD and four rushing TD against Tulane on Saturday.
  • Corral’s shortest odds is currently at +150 via FanDuel with Young listed at +400 in that sportsbook.

Ole Miss QB Matt Corral is now the new Heisman Trophy favorite after a video game performance against Tulane on Saturday.

Behind Corral, the Rebels thrashed Tulane 61-21, easily covering a huge 29.5 points spread. Ole Miss scored all of its points in three quarters while gaining 707 total yards against the Green Wave.

With the win, Ole Miss is now 3-0 on the season and no. 13 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, their highest ranking since placing 11th in the preseason rankings of 2016 heading to week 1 of that season.

First Player in SEC With 3 Passing TD and 4 Rushing TD in a Game

Corral finished the game with 335 passing yards with three TD passes on 23-31 passing. He also had four rushing touchdowns while amassing 68 rushing yards on 13 carries to become the first player in SEC history to pass for 3 TD and rushing for four in the same game. More impressively, Corral put up those numbers in only three quarters of action.

For the season Corral has already passed for a total of 662 yards with six touchdown passes and zero interceptions. He has completed 66.2% of his passes and has a current passer rating of 182.2. In contrast, last week’s Heisman betting favorite Bryce Young has accumulated 811 passing yards with 10 scores and no picks. Young has a completion rate of 68% and a passer rating of 169.1.

But while the two are well-matched in the passing department, Corral has the significant advantage on the ground, rushing for a total of 158 yards on 33 carries with five rushing scores to boast. Young meanwhile, has rushed 8 times and is -4 yards on the ground with no scoring production.

New Heisman Favorite

Corral was a +2000 at most CFB sportsbooks during the preseason. He improved to +1000 after week 1 and continued to rise at +600 after the second week of the season. Following Saturday’s dominant performance, Corral moved to betting favorite at most of the top college football betting sites.

Barstool Sports now has Corral as the +250 odds-on-favorite. He is also the new +210 betting favorite at BetMGM. Corral is also listed at +200 at DraftKings with Young now at +225. PointsBet also has Corral at +200 but the said sportsbook has Young with longer +275 odds in second spot. FanDuel has the shortest odds for Corral at +150 while Young is farther back at +400. Meanwhile, the BetOnline App lists the Rebels’ QB at +175 and the Tide starter at +300.

As we’ve seen since week 1, the Heisman odds as well the CFB title odds are very volatile, depending on how a player or team does in a particular week. But what’s happened with the Heisman odds is that Young and Corral have started to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. And right now, it’s the Ole Miss QB taking the top spot after a record-breaking effort against Tulane last Saturday.
