Dallas opened as the +260 betting underdog against Phoenix in their best-of-seven second-round series. Their odds shortened to +240 after a solid losing effort in Game 1 but drifted to +375 after getting blown out in Game 2. But after winning the next two games on their home floor, the Mavericks are now listed at +200 with the Suns’ odds down to -240 from -500 after taking a 2-0 series lead.

Mavs Even Series

The Mavericks even their series against the Suns 2-2 with a victory in Game 4 last Sunday. Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists, and 4 steals while cashing a +200 to record a double-double. However, it was Dorian Finney-Smith who made the big baskets for Dallas.

Finney-Smith scored a career playoff high with 24 points while making a career-best 8 three-pointers on 12 attempts from deep. He made back-to-back triples to give the Mavericks are 14-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. Davis Bertans also came off the bench to knock down 4 out of 6 three-point attempts as the Mavs made 20 triples on Sunday, matching their 2011 Mother’s Day output against the L.A. Lakers, a win that completed a series sweep, on their way to winning their first-ever NBA title.

The 29-year-old Finney-Smith is 31-72 from the three-point range in the playoffs or 43.1%. He joins fellow rotation players Maxi Kleber (24-49 or 49%) and Reggie Bullock (29-72 or 40.3%) as defensive players on the team who have been making at least 40% of their three-pointers in the playoffs.

Game 5 on Tuesday at 10 P.M. ET

The series now heads back to the Desert for Game 5 at the Footprint Center. The Mavericks have opened as +6 point spread and +225 Moneyline underdogs to the Suns at the BetOnline App. Dallas was also a +6 in Games 1 and 2 in Phoenix and the Suns won both games comfortably. However, the Mavs enter Game 5 with plenty of confidence after pulling even with the top-seeded Suns.

Phoenix fell back in the title picture with the Game 4 loss. The Suns are now listed at +300 odds to win the 2022 NBA title with the Golden State Warriors reclaiming the tag of betting favorites at +200. Meanwhile, Dallas sits next to last with their +1800 championship odds but with the series knotted at 2-2, anything can happen in the series.

The best sportsbooks still have the Suns as a +160 to win the series in six games and a +180 to beat the Mavericks in seven games. On the other hand, Dallas’ shortest odds is to beat Phoenix in Game 7 at +400 while the odds of the Mavericks winning the next two games of the series is the longest at +450.
