- The Miami Dolphins beat the New Orleans Saints 20-3 on Sunday for their 7th straight win.
- Miami is the first team in NFL history to have a 7-game winning streak and 7-game losing streak in the same season.
- The Dolphins are now the 7th seed in the AFC and control their playoff destiny.
The Miami Dolphins continued their torrid streak as they won for the seventh consecutive time last weekend. The Fins took advantage of the Saints missing 20 players due to COVID-19 protocols and beat them 20-3 last Sunday.
Rookie sensation Jaylen Waddle caught 10 passes for 92 yards with one TD grab while QB Tua Tagovailoa connected on 19 of 26 passes for 198 yards and a short TD that gave the Dolphins a 17-3 lead in the third quarter.

Sunday’s win continued a stunning turnaround by the Dolphins who opened the season with a 1-7 SU record but are now 8-7 SU. They have won their last seven games and have covered the betting spread in six of those seven games. The only time they didn’t cover? Week 16 when they beat the Jets 31-24 as -10 point favorites at the best NFL betting sites.
Since 2019, the Dolphins have had a record of 18-6 SU and 18-6 ATS from Weeks 9 to 17. If a bettor wagered on the Miami Moneyline during these games, he would have been a $2,390 right now. But not only have the Dolphins been winning games and winning money for their bettors, but the 2021 Dolphins are also history makers.
In the history of the NFL, there have been a total of 198 winning streaks of seven or more games in the league and there have been a total of 323 losing streaks of at least seven games. However, the Dolphins are the first to do both in the same season. By beating the Saints, the Dolphins also now have a 19% (according to ESPN) to become the first team in NFL history to make the playoffs after starting the season with a 1-7 SU record.

By moving up to 8-7 SU on the season, the Dolphins also forced a tie for the final playoff spot in the AFC. Not only that, they now control their own destiny moving forward. If the Dolphins win their final two games, then they will guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs. It won’t be easy, however.
Miami will face the AFC South leaders Tennessee Titans in Week 17. The Dolphins opened as four-point road underdogs to the Titans. The spread odds dropped to three and is now 3.5 at online sportsbook BetOnline. The Dolphins have won three out of the last four head-to-head meetings against the Titans, including the last two but the teams have not played each other since September 2018. Miami is also 3-1 SU in their last four games against the Patriots, including a 17-16 victory in Week 1 of the current season.
Despite Miami’s late-season surge, online sportsbook PointsBet USA still has them as a -500 favorite NOT to make the playoffs and just a +350 to bag the final wild card seat in the AFC. Regardless of what happens though, it has been one hell of a ride and the Dolphins have shown the competitiveness and resilience to do better the next time out.
