Miles Bridges Charlotte Hornets Background

  • Miles Bridges has moved to third in the Barstool Sportsbook Most Improved Player odds boards at +1400.
  • Bridges was named as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the opening week of the
    2021 -22 NBA season.
  • The 4th year forward averaged 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while leading the Hornets to a 3-0 start last week.

The Charlotte Hornets have made a buzz early in the 2021-22 NBA season.

Touted as a middle-tier team this year by the best NBA sportsbooks, Charlotte opened the season with three straight wins. LaMelo Ball has looked spectacular in Year 2 but it’s not only LaMelo who has been balling for the Buzz Boys as the fourth-year forward Miles Bridges is also off to a strong start.

Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Bridges was named as the Eastern Conference Player of the first week of the NBA season after averaging 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game with shooting splits of .540/.440/.940. Charlotte went 3-0 during Week 1 of the 2021-22 NBA season, marking their best start ever in franchise history.

Of course, the Hornets went on to lose their next game to the Boston Celtics, and Bridges was posterized by Jaylen Brown during the overtime session. But remember that Charlotte was in full control of that game in the 4th quarter with a 12-point lead before they collapsed. Despite the loss, Bridges still had another big night with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

The 12th pick of the 2018 NBA Draft opened his 2021-22 campaign with 13 points and 8 rebounds against the Pacers. But since then, he has averaged 29 points, 8.67 rebounds, and 2 steals per game while shooting 53.2% from the field. With Bridges taking the leap, the best NBA sportsbooks have started to take note.

3rd Best Odds to Win Most Improved Player

Bridges now has the third-best odds to win the Most Improved Player award this season. At the Barstool Sportsbook, he is now listed at +1400 behind new favorite Ja Morant who is currently at +500, and Jordan Poole who is listed at +800. Unibet also has Bridges with the third-best odds to win MIP at +1400 with Morant listed at +500 and Pool at +800.

Bridges has also moved to the fourth spot at the Caesars Sportsbook with his +1600 odds. Only Morant at +550, Poole at +900, and Tyler Herro at +1200 have better odds than him. Meanwhile, PointsBet USA has Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr. tied for the 4th shortest odds at +1400. Only Morant at +550, Poole at +1000, and Herro at +1200 are ranked higher on their betting boards.

It’s still too early in the season to tell who wins the Most Improved Player award this season. But with a lot of worthy contenders this year, it’s already an achievement to be ranked among the betting favorites. For the Hornets, the award is only secondary. What’s important is that Bridges is having his breakout season.
