No Buzz on Betting Lines As Hornets Extend Rozier

Terry Rozier With Charlotte Hornets Background

  • Rozier re-signs with Hornets for four years
  • Oddsmakers see Hornets as outliers in ’21-22
  • Rozier carrying MVP odds

Oddsmakers stayed indifferent on Thursday as the Charlotte Hornets announced that they had re-signed guard Terry Rozier to the tune of a four-year, $97 million contract that will keep him in Charlotte through the 2024-25 season.

Charlotte’s chances to win the NBA title remained at (+15000) after the Hornets made it into the Eastern Conference play-in game, but just missed making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Hornets are tied with the Washington Wizards as they share 21st place as both are considered long shots with the (+15000) odds to win the NBA championship. This is better than last season, however, when the Hornets opened at (+16000), which was 27th in the NBA.

The Nets are the favorites at (-225) while the Los Angeles Lakers check-in at (+450) with the defending World Champions Milwaukee Bucks slated with the third-best odds at (+800).

Rozier Puts Some Sting in Line Up

Rozier was the Hornet’s leading scorer last season as he put up 20.4 points per game while making 45 percent of his field goals and canning 38.9 percent from three.

Despite his numbers:
Charlotte is still considered an outlier in ’21-22 by the oddsmakers as the Hornets are also facing long odds to win the Eastern Conference as the Hornets and the Raptors share the same number (+4200).

The Hornets have been spotted at (+8000) in some sportsbooks as well as (+10000) in others to win the east. Charlotte opened at (+12500) to win the Eastern Conference in 2020-21 and improved to as much as (+10000).

No odds have been placed on the Hornets to win the Southeast Division as of now. Last season, Charlotte checked in at (+3300) at the beginning of the season and the number went as low as (+550) on April 1.

Rozier’s Stature

The former Louisville Cardinal will join forces once again with NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball to try to pace the team into contention. The popular opinion is that the Hornets will not make it to the playoffs in 2022 (-215) while the chances for Charlotte to make the postseason sit at (+175).

Last season:
The Hornets were (-500) to not make the playoffs while the number was at (+375) to make the postseason. In 2020-21, the Hornets absorbed injuries to Gordon Hayward and Ball as they finished 33-39 and eight games off of Miami, who won the Southeast Division.

The sportsbooks saw the Hornets with a win total of 26.5 (-110) in ’20-21 while their win total has been spotted at 38.5 with the odds on an UNDER at (-115) and the OVER at (-105).

  • Ball is placing in NBA MVP odds at (+15000).
  • Rozier has been seen on some sportsbooks at (+50000).

Rozier has had a (+5000) mark attached for Most Improved Player of the Year while Ball has more of a chance at (+4000).
