Raquel Pennington Taps Macy Chiasson
— MMA Junkie (@MMAJunkie) December 18, 2021
Chiasson saw her two-bout winning streak end at the hands of Raquel Pennington in her most recent bout at UFC Vegas 45. In that bout, Pennington tapped Chiasson with a guillotine in the second round of their catchweight encounter. Prior to that defeat, Chiasson picked up decision victories over Shanna Young and Marion Reneau.
The 30-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana is the no. 11 ranked female bantamweight in the UFC but will be staying at featherweight for this bout. Chiasson recorded a submission win over Pannie Kianzad in the TUF 28 Finale to win the women’s featherweight tournament. She has an overall record of 7-2 with two knockouts and two submission victories, including a 4-2 record under the UFC.
This marks the second straight bout where Chiasson has opened as the betting underdog in a UFC bout. She opened at +250 and closed at +135 against Pennington the last time out. The only other time that Chiasson saw the plus money sign next to her name in the UFC was when she hit the betting boards at +165 when she fought Kianzad in the TUF 28 Finale.
Norma Dumont Gets Nod Over Aspen Ladd
— MMA On Point (@OnPointMMA) October 17, 2021
After dropping her maiden UFC appearance against Megan Anderson at UFC Fight Night 169 in February 2020, Norma Dumont has picked up three consecutive victories. The 31-year-old Brazilian beat Ashlee Smith-Evans via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 15 and eked out a split decision victory against Felicia Spencer six months later at UFC Vegas 27. In her most recent appearance, Dumont got the nod over highly-touted prospect Aspen Ladd in the main event of UFC Vegas 40.
Ranked 15th in the UFC bantamweight division, Dumont will be making her second consecutive appearance at featherweight. Dumont began her career in Brazil, fighting under Shooto Brazil and Jungle fight before joining the UFC in 2020 as an unbeaten fighter. Overall, Dumont has a record of 7-1 with two submission victories.
This is the first time in her UFC career where Dumont has opened at minus money odds. In her previous four Octagon appearances, Dumont opened and closed as the betting underdog. Despite that, she won her last 3 fights and a $100 bettor would’ve won $406 on Dumont’s last three wins and $1,201.34 if the bets were parlayed.
