  • The Green Bay Packers are still the odds on favorite to keep Aaron Rodgers for the upcoming season.
  • It can be recalled that Rodgers recently said that he doesn’t want to return to the Packers this season and is willing to sit out the entire campaign if he is not traded.
  • The Las Vegas Raiders are the odds on favorite to land Rodgers if he is traded.

After the trade speculation surrounding Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson quieted down, news of Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay took over.

Rodgers has stopped short of officially demanding a trade when he let the Packers know that he does not want to return to the team next season. Green Bay has Rodgers under contract through the 2023 season and has insisted that they will not trade the NFL’s 2020 MVP.

However, Rodgers is reportedly willing to sit out the season or even call it a career and continue with his show business career, possibly as the full-time host of the TV show Jeopardy which he successfully hosted as a guest last month. With the possibility of losing Rodgers for nothing, will the Packers reconsider and trade him just to get value in return?

Worry not Green Bay fans because according to the best NFL betting sites, the Packers are still the odds on favorite to retain Rodgers’ services. According to DraftKings, Green Bay is the -150 betting favorite to keep its starting QB next season.

However, if by any chance, the Packers would trade him, the Denver Broncos are the leading candidates to land Rodgers.

Broncos Are Favorites

Former Broncos offensive lineman Mark Schlereth, who is now a FOX analyst, reported last Friday that a deal between the Broncos and Packers was close to being done just before Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Nothing happened, but the Broncos didn’t pick a rookie quarterback when they had the chance, instead opting to draft Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain at no. 9.

Denver has not had a franchise QB since Peyton Manning retired in 2015. 2019 second round pick Drew Lock is the presumptive starter but he has disappointed. The Broncos brought in Terry Bridgewater to give Lock some competition but for sure, Rodgers would be a significant upgrade over both Lock and Bridgewater.

The Broncos not drafting a QB in the first two rounds leaves a lot to the imagination. Is Denver leaving the door open for a renegotiation with Green Bay? Rodgers reportedly has the Broncos on his list of preferred landing spots so that adds intrigue as well.

Rodgers Intrigued by Las Vegas

After the Broncos, the Las Vegas Raiders are believed to be the second best landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. According to a report from ESPN, Rodgers is reportedly intrigued at playing for the Raiders that he’s included it as among the teams he would accept to be traded to.

The Top 5 quarterbacks in the recent draft were already off the board when the Raiders made their pick at no. 17. Las Vegas elected to draft Alabama tackle Alex Leatherwood in the first round and did not use any of their seven picks to pursue a QB.

John Gruden and Derek Carr have stuck with each other because there hasn’t been a better option for Las Vegas and the Raiders seem to be content with him. However, with Rodgers including them as one of his preferred destinations, it won’t be a surprise if Las Vegas makes a move. The other teams in the BetOnline oddsboard are the Dolphins (+1000), Charges (+1000), and Browns (+1200).
