Hill Flattens Jimmy Crute
— MMAFighting.com (@MMAFighting) December 5, 2021
Hill flattened Jimmy Crute with a devastating 48-second knockout to win Performance of the Night honors at UFC Vegas 44 last December 4th. The win put Hill back on track after he suffered his first career loss to Paul Craig at UFC 263 six months earlier. In that bout, Hill dislocated his elbow and was knocked out.
A former KnockOut Promotions light heavyweight champion, Hill earned his UFC contract with a knockout win over Alexander Poppeck at the Contender Series 21 in 2019. Since joining the promotion, Hill has put up a record of 3-1 with one no-contest and has risen to no. 12 in the UFC’s light heavyweight rankings.
Including his appearance at the Contender Series, Hill has been favored in five out of his previous six bouts. The only time where he saw the plus money sign next to his name was when he fought Crute at +170 odds. He was a massive -300 betting favorite when he lost to Paul Craig.
Walker Looking to Bounce Back
— MMAFighting.com (@MMAFighting) October 3, 2021
Walker will be looking to bounce back from a decision setback against fellow Brazilian contender Thiago Santos at the main event UFC Vegas 38 last October 2, 2021. The bout was expected to be a war between two hard-hitting Brazilian warriors but ended up as a lackluster affair with Santos eking out a 48-47 win in across all scorecards.
A former light heavyweight champion at the UCMMA and European Beatdown Promotions, Walker entered the UFC via the Contender Series in Brazil where he defeated Henrique da Silva to earn his contract. The 29-year old from Rio de Janeiro opened his UFC career with three consecutive victories, all knockout wins that earned him Performance of the Night honors but only has one win in his last four bouts.
After being the +150 underdog in his UFC debut against Khalil Rountree, Walker was listed as betting favorite in his next five bouts but he went 3-2 during that stretch. Walker was the +125 underdog when he fought Santos and will have to win from the bottom dog spot against Hill.
