The Friars opened with a +3000 odds to win the Big East during the preseason. That’s the longest odds for a Conference champion from the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, PAC 12, and SEC since the 2009-10 season or as far back as the odds are available at the best NCAAB betting sites.
At +3000, Providence only had the sixth-best odds to win the Big East with Villanova the -115 preseason odds on favorite and UConn the second favorite at +350. Xavier also opened at +600 while Creighton and St. John’s were both listed at +1100. But the Friars streaked with a program-record 14 consecutive conference wins and finished with their first 24-win season since 2015-16 to capture their first-ever regular season conference title.
The Friars will enter the Big East tournament as the no. 1 seed and will play on Thursday, March 10 at noon, at the Madison Square Garden. But before that, they will still have to play one more regular season game, a visit to preseason favorites and No. 8 Villanova on Tuesday.
Providence a +800 to Win it All
Reminder that Providence’s odds to win it all are +8000.

Providence is a lock to make the NCAA tournament via an at-large bid in case the Big East tournament doesn’t go their way. But bettors who took them at +2000 odds to win the Big East tournament would love to see them top the competition.
Although they have 15-1 odds to enter the Final Four, the Friars are still a longshot 80-1 to win March Madness. That’s still way far off the powerhouses teams like odds on favorite Gonzaga who is currently at +350, Arizona and Kentucky who are at +700, Purdue at +900, Auburn and Kansas both at +1200.
However, their transformation from a .500 team last season to Big East champions this year is impressive, despite critics calling them the luckiest team in college basketball. Whether it’s luck or not, they are bound to enter the NCAA Tournament. And since it’s March Madness, anything can happen. I mean if the Top 6 ranked teams can all lose in one play date, why not Providence to win it all?
