Ravens’ Super Bowl Odds Move to +800 After Mauling the Chargers

Baltimore Ravens And NFL Background

  • The Baltimore Ravens saw their Super Bowl LVI odds shorten from +1000 to +800 after beating the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
  • Baltimore has now won five straight games and they are temporarily on top of the AFC Conference standings right now at 5-1.
  • The Bills are still the +200 favorites to win the AFC Conference at BetMGM.

After shutting down Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens moved up the Super Bowl LVI betting boards.

Baltimore climbed to the 4th spot via the PointsBet odds board at +800 from +1000 before the game. With the increment, only the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +550 and the Kansas City Chiefs at +700 have shorter odds than the Ravens to win the NFL title at the said sportsbook. The Los Angeles Rams are tied with the Ravens at +800 while the Green Bay Packers are next at +900. Despite picking up their sixth straight win on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals are still 7th at +1000.

Ravens Blow Out Chargers

Beating the Chargers didn’t come as a surprise as Baltimore entered the game as a -2.5 point betting favorite. But the Ravens didn’t just beat the Chargers on Sunday, they blew them out of the M&T Bank Stadium and made a big statement in a dominant 34-6 win by dominating on both ends of the field.

Baltimore took advantage of the Chargers’ lackluster rush defense by picking up a total of 187 yards on the ground on 38 carries with three touchdowns. Lamar Jackson rushed for 51 yards on 8 carries while Devonta Freeman, Latavius Miller, and Le’Veon Bell each had a rushing score for Baltimore.

On the other side of the field, the Baltimore defense shut down the prolific Justin Herbert 22-39 passing with only 195 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Chargers scored only six points in the game, their lowest output of the season, and only the second time they have been held to under 16 points since drafting Herbert two seasons ago. Los Angeles fell to 4-2 while the Ravens are now at 5-1 and temporarily on top of the AFC with the Bills at 4-1 and still to play on Monday Night Football.

Against All Odds

The Bills are still the Super Bowl co-favorites and they are also the AFC title favorites but there’s no question that with five straight wins, the Ravens are moving to the top at a fast pace. And after their dominant win over the Chargers, you can safely say they are serious Super Bowl contenders.

Baltimore was left for dead just before the start of the season when they lost their Top 2 running backs – J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards to season-ending injuries in consecutive incidents. The Ravens tried a band-aid solution with Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray, and Le’Veon Bell who were each unemployed at some point two months ago. On Sunday, they produced three touchdowns while helping the Ravens rush 13 yards shy of the 200-yard mark.

The Ravens at +400 are still third behind the Bill at +200 and Chiefs at +320 to win the AFC Conference at the best NFL sportsbooks but when you look at the strength of schedule, the Ravens have played against much tougher opposition while Buffalo has not faced a team with a winning record yet. The season is still very young, but given the Chiefs’ early struggles, the AFC could go down to Baltimore and Buffalo.
