Rory McIlroy is the odds-on-favorite to raise the Claret Jug as the 2022 PGA Tour season heads to the final major of the year at the Home of Golf in Scotland at the St. Andrews Golf Links next week.

McIlroy is +800 Favorite

According to the best golf betting sites, the four-time major winner is the +800 favorite to win the 2022 installment of The Open Championship. McIlroy won the tournament in 2014 when it was played at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside, England. Overall, McIlroy has six Top 25 finishes in The Open, including five Top 5s. He was however just a T46 last year.

But McIlroy is having a strong year where he has contended for every major this season, finishing 2nd at The Masters, 8th at the PGA Championship, and a T5 in the U.S.Open. while winning twice on the Tour this season. McIlroy leads the PGA Tour with the lowest scoring average this season at 68.635, the lowest average on the Tour since Tiger Woods shot a 68.052 average in 2009.

McIlroy is currently playing at the JP McManus Pro-Am at Adare Manor along with Tiger Woods, and Xander Schaufelle among others. As he said last year, he won’t be playing in this weekend’s Scottish Open at The Renaissance where Jon Rahm is among three co-favorites.

Rahm, Justin Thomas, and world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler are the +1200 co-favorites to win this weekend. The three are also tied with the second-shortest odds to win The Open at +1200 odds. World no. 3 Rahm is coming off a T12 at the 2022 U.S. Open which is his highest finish in a major this year. Meanwhile, Scheffler was edged out by Matt Fitzpatrick at the U.S. Open while Justin Thomas won the 2022 PGA Championship and was a T8 at Augusta.

Defending Open champion Colin Morikawa is listed at +1600 along with Cameron Smith. Morikawa finished 5th at both the Masters and U.S. Open while placing 55th in the PGA Championship. Meanwhile, Smith missed the cut at the U.S. Open but was a T3 at The Masters and T13 at Th PGA championship.

Matt Fitzpatrick, who won the 2022 U.S. Open by edging out Scheffer and Will Zalatoris, is currently listed at +2000 along with Jordan Spieth, Will Zalatoris, and XanderSchauffele. Shane Lowy is the only fighter listed at +2200 while LIV Golf signee Dustin Johnson is also at +2500.
