Burgos heads to this bout after defeating Billy Quarantillo in a back-and-forth war at UFC 268 last November 16, 2021. That win snapped a two-bout losing skid for Burgos who lost back-to-back Fight of the Night winners against Josh Emmett and Edson Barboza. Overall, Burgos is 7-3 in 10 UFC bouts.
The 31-year-old from Bronx, New York began his MMA career at Xtreme Caged Combat, Ring of Combat, and Cage Fury Fighting Championships. Armed with an undefeated 7-0 record, he joined the UFC in 2016. He won his first three bouts before suffering his first-ever career loss against Calvin Kattar at UFC 220 in a bout that won him another Fight of the Night award. Overall, Burgos has a record of 14-3 with five knockouts and five submission wins.
Burgos has opened as the betting favorite in all but one of his bouts. The only time he had the plus money sign written next to his name was when he opened at +135 against Cub Swanson in 2019. Hurricane has never closed as the betting underdog in his entire MMA career. His opening odds of -150 is the third-longest as the odds-on-favorite.
