According to the best UFC betting sites, Dawson is the -180 favorite and Gordon the +155 bottom dog in their three-round lightweight bout at UFC Vegas 53 on April 30 at the UFC APEX Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gordon was supposed to fight Rafael Alves in the event but the latter withdrew from the bout and Dawson agreed to step in with less than one month to go before the event.

Grant Dawson vs Ricky Glenn Declared a Majority Draw

Dawson will be trying to return to the winning column after figuring in a majority draw against Ricky Glenn in his most recent bout at UFC Vegas 41 last October 23, 2021. The draw snapped a string of eight consecutive wins for Dawson which included five straight inside the UFC Octagon.

The 28-year-old from Stromburg, Nebraska began his fighting career at the Omaha Fight Club, DCS, Shamrock FC, Victory Fighting Championship, and the Kansas City Fighting Alliance. Dawson joined the Contender Series in 2017 where a submission win over Adrian Diaz led to a UFC contract. Overall, Dawson has a record of 17-1 with four knockouts and 11 submission victories.

This marks the seventh straight bout under the UFC where Dawson has opened as the betting favorite. At -180 however, it’s Dawson’s second-longest opening odds in the UFC with his -105 against The Ultimate Fighter 27 winner Mike Trizano as his longest. Dawson won that bout via second-round submission.

Jared Gordon Upsets Joe Solecki

Gordon is a former Cage Fury Fighting Championships featherweight champion. The 33-yea old from Queens, New York joined the UFC in 2017. After a rough start which saw him go 3-3 in his first six UFC assignments, Gordon is on a roll with three straight wins. In his last bout, Gordon upset Joe Solecki at UFC Vegas 38.

A Duelo De Gigantes lightweight champion, Gordon also fought under Cage Fury Fighting Championship where he was a mainstay. After failing to win the CFFC featherweight belt on his first try, Gordon knocked out Anthony Morrison at CFFC 59 to become champion. Gordon successfully defended the belt against Bill Algeo at CFFC 63 before joining the UFC.

Gordon will be the betting underdog in his third consecutive bout. He closed at +110 when he defeated Danny Chavez via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 19 last February 20, 2021, and was the +115 bottom dog when he defeated Solecki last October 2, 2021.
