  • Steph Curry is the new odds on favorite to win the 2022 NBA Finals MVP at +450.
  • Jayson Tatum has moved to second place at +550 after the Celtics swept the Nets in their first round series.
  • Pre-playoffs Finals MVP betting favorite Devin Booker has slipped to 4th spot at +800 after missing three games in the first round with a hamstring injury.

The first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs is almost over and the second round cast is nearly complete.

With that, the NBA Finals MVP betting boards have changed since they opened. And according to the best NBA betting sites, the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry is the new odds on favorite to win the award. At +450. Boston’s Jayson Tatum is second at +550 while Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo is third at +750. Phoenix teammates Devin Booker and Chris Paul round up the Top 5 at +800 odds each.

Updated Finals MVP Odds

Curry is coming off a first-round series where he averaged 28.0 points per game on 50.0% FG shooting and 41.2% accuracy from three-point range. The former two-time NBA MVP did this while playing in just 30.2 minutes per game coming off an injury. With the Warriors now the new betting favorites to win the 2022 NBA championship, it’s no surprise why Curry is on top of the updated list.

On the other hand, Tatum’s Celtics swept the Brooklyn Nets in their opening round series. Oddsmakers favored the series to go to the full seven-game route and gave the Nets the shortest odds among first round underdogs but Tatum’s brilliance on both ends of the court helped the Celtics blank the Nets. Tatum averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in round one while shutting down Kevin Durant like no one before him.

Antetokounmpo has always been Milwaukee’s top player but with Khris Middleton suffering a knee injury and missing the last three games of their first round series, the Greek Freak had to do more lifting. Giannis put up 28.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game against Chicago and is expected to do more in the next round against the Celtics with Middleton expected to be out for the entire second round.

Booker Opened as Finals MVP Favorite

Before the start of the playoffs, it was Booker who was the odds on favorite to win the 2022 NBA Finals MVP at +450. Antetokounmpo was second at +600 while Paul was third at +700. Kevin Durant was next at +850 while Curry completed the Top 5 at +1200.

However, a lot has changed since the start of the playoffs. Most notably, Durant’s Brooklyn Nets have already been eliminated by Tatum’s Celtics. Booker and Paul’s Suns struggled to get past the New Orleans Pelicans in the opening round mainly due to Booker’s injury. Meanwhile, Curry’s Warriors and Antetokounmpo’s Bucks breezed through their respective first round opponents via a 4-1 margin.

The current Finals MVP betting boards will continue to change in the upcoming rounds. Tatum’s Celtics will face Giannis’ Bucks meaning only one of them will remain in the Finals MVP odds board after the Conference semifinals. Meanwhile, Booker is back for the Suns and if he and Paul lead their team past the second round, they could end up playing Curry and the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. Again, it’s either Booker and Paul or Curry who will be on the list when the Finals begin. Or maybe none of them a different team wins the West.
