For two consecutive nights, the Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in walk-off fashion. In Game 2, the Braves just refused to go away. Ian Anderson lasted only three innings, Freddie Freeman matched a career-worst longest strikeout steak, and the Atlanta pitching staff surrendered nine walks but a stubborn Atlanta bullpen and Eddie Rosario came up big as the Braves took a 2-0 series lead on Sunday in Atlanta.
Thrust into the leadoff role after Jorge Soler was placed on the COVID-19 injury list, Rosario capped off a four-hit performance with the game-winning single that gave the Braves a come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Dodgers. He is the first player since David Ortiz in 2004 to have four hits and a walk-off knock in a playoff game. With a second straight walk-off win, the Braves joined the 1969 Orioles, 1981 Astros, and the 1997 Marlins as the only teams in MLB history with a walk-off win in the first two games of a playoff series.
With a runner at second and two outs in the 9th inning, the Dodgers called on closer Kenley Jansen to end the show. However, Rosario welcomed Jansen by lacing a first-pitch cutter up the middle. The ball glanced off the glove of Corey Seager at shortstop who positioned himself behind the second-base bag. As a result, Dansby Swanson scored the winning run in uncontested fashion.
There’s a New World Series Betting Favorite

Atlanta opened as the +550 to win the World Series and saw their odds drift to as long as +2000 during the regular season. The Braves were at +550 again during the Wild Card round and were a +220 before Game 1 of the NLCS. Now the Braves are finally on top of the ladder at +200, not just at Seneca Sports but also at BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, PointsBet, and Bet365.
At BetOnline, the Braves are now the -190 betting favorite to win the NLCS with the Dodgers currently listed at +165. Make no mistake though, nothing is still certain because if you can remember last season, Los Angeles came from 1-3 down in this same series to stun this same Braves team.
But Atlanta has come a long way, beating the odds and the injuries to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Mike Soroka. They proved themselves against the NL Central champions Milwaukee Brewers, and now they are doing the same against the Dodgers, proving to be the steadier team in a closely fought NLCS. With three great starting pitchers and a lineup that is hitting at the right time, it would be foolish to look past this Atlanta team.
