- Tua Tagovailoa’s MVP odds have seen the biggest positive change in the last two months.
- Tagovailoa opened at 200/1 but is not at 33/1 after the Dolphins acquired WR Tyreek Hill.
- Justin Herbert has moved from 14/1 to +550 and is the new betting favorite to win the next NFL MVP award.
With the early betting money already in, online sportsbook BetOnline took note of the NFL players whose NFL MVP Odds had the biggest positive change.
According to the said online sportsbook, Tua Tagovailoa has seen the biggest improvement in the last two months but that’s because he started with the longest odds among those with the most significant positive change.
Justin Herbert: 14/1 to +550
Jalen Hurts: 66/1 to 18/1
Derek Carr: 33/1 to 20/1
Matt Ryan: 100/1 to 33/1
Tua Tagovailoa: 200/1 to 33/1
Kirk Cousins: 50/1 to 40/1
Trevor Lawrence: 80/1 to 66/1

Sky’s the Limit for Tua
Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill on Tua Tagovailoa: “The sky’s the limit for the guy… he’s a heck of a talent.” pic.twitter.com/XiCr8sgqWq

The statement may have been biased because the person who said it was Tagovailoa’s top wide receiver Tyreek Hill. However, when one of the top receivers in the NFL says that Tua has “one of the prettiest balls” he’s ever caught, there must be something special about him.
Tagovailoa opened at 200/1 odds but is now down to 33/1 after the Dolphins traded for Hill and signed RBs Sony Michel and Raheem Mostert among other big moves. The Dolphins were 9-8 last season and 10-6 two years ago. With a big offseason where they made big additions on both sides of the field, bigger things are expected from the Dolphins and Tua.
The next longshot who saw his MVP odds significantly shrink is veteran QB Matt Ryan who was traded from the Atlanta Falcons to the Indianapolis Colts. While Ryan’s former team is a -1000 to miss the playoffs, the Colts are a -170 favorite to make the postseason with Ryan playing under center this season. The Colts barely missed the playoffs last season and with a veteran guy with Ryan’s experience, the postseason is an expected destination for Indianapolis.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts opened with 66/1 odds to win the league MVP award. Those odds went down to 50/1 then were halved to 25/1 after the Eagles acquired A.J. Brown. Since the 2022 NFL Draft, Hurts has been the most popular bet at Caesars Sportsbook and is the most popular bet on the said online betting site. Currently, BetOnline and the other top NFL sportsbooks have Hurts at 18/1 odds.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence also moved from 80/1 to 66/1 after the Draft with the Jaguars adding edge rusher Travon Walker with the top pick to give their defense a massive boost. Derek Carr’s MVP odds improved from 33/1 to 20/1 after his Raiders acquired the likes of All-Pro players Chandler Jones and Davante Adams. Also making headway in the early MVP odds boards race is QB Kirk Cousins who has gone from 50/1 to 40/1.
Meanwhile, it was Chargers QB Justin Herbert who moved up the ladder the highest. From 14/1, Herbert saw his odds zoom up to +550 and he is now the odds on favorite to win the next NFL MVP award. Herbert is coming off a 5,000 passing yards season where he also threw 38 passing touchdowns, the third most in the league.
