For years, boxing fans around the world have been calling to see the fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. These two UK-based heavyweights are now sitting at the top of the rankings. This week, promoters confirmed that the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight has officially been agreed to.

This is likely the biggest boxing match in recent history. People around the world will be tuning in to see who manages to come out on top. Today, we’ll discuss some of the details surrounding the fight between these men.

Let’s get into it!

Heavyweight Boxing Continues to Get Better Every Year

Throughout the 20th century, heavyweight was considered the most exciting weight division in the sport of boxing. Fighters like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, and Mike Tyson became huge stars thanks to their success in the sport. In the early 21st century, however, this division entered into a somewhat bleak period.

The heavyweight division simply didn’t generate fan interest for years. During Wladimir Klitschko’s reign as the champion, this weight class failed to bring in viewers. No stars captured the public eye as they did in the past.

It now seems the heavyweight division has entered into a sort of golden age. There are a huge number of fantastic heavyweights competing in the sport right now. All of them are working to reach the top of the division’s rankings.

Some big heavyweight bouts are taking place in the near future. For a time, it seemed as if Deontay Wilder would be taking on Charles Martin this summer. New reports surfaced recently that claim Wilder will instead be taking on Andy Ruiz sometime in the next few months.

Of course, the biggest-possible heavyweight fight is the one between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. These two men have been on a tear in the division and are at the top of the rankings. Fans seem divided on how this bout will end up playing out.

It seems that these fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out how these men stack up with each other! Here’s what we know about this incredible matchup.

Eddie Hearn Claims the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua Fight has Been Signed

The UK has always been home to world-class boxers. Historically speaking, however, boxing’s best heavyweights have been based in the US. That is no longer the case and the top two fighters in the weight class now call the United Kingdom home.

Tyson Fury has accumulated a 30-0-1 record as a professional. Most recently, he handed Deontay Wilder the first loss of his career in one of the most impressive boxing performances of 2020. Many fans and analysts believe that Tyson is the best heavyweight on the planet.

Anthony Joshua is a powerhouse in the ring. He’s bounced back from the loss to Andy Ruiz in 2019 with two impressive victories. Joshua is now looking to establish himself as the top heavyweight boxer alive right now.

Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn claims that contracts for the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight have finally been signed. It’s a two-fight agreement between the two men. Hearn also revealed some of the locations being targeted for these bouts.

“We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month,” Hearn said. “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters… I actually feel we’ve done the hard part. Speaking for myself, Anthony and his team at 258 management [258 MGT], I know how hard we’ve worked these last couple of months and I just feel that this fight is so big it’s not a difficult sell. We’ve already had approaches from eight or nine sites. The offers have come from multiple countries in the Middle East, from Asia, Eastern Europe and America.”

The first fight between Fury and Joshua is expected to take place in either June or July. The second is likely to take place in November or December. Soon, an official site location for the first matchup will be announced.

Boxing fans are finally getting the fight they have been asking for. Many are now choosing to bet on this exciting clash online.

Breaking Down the Updated Odds on Joshua vs. Fury

The heavyweight division in boxing is more competitive than ever. Becoming a champion in this weight class is harder than ever. That is exactly what Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have managed to accomplish.

Just about everyone wants to see this fight take place. Some are heading over to Bovada to place their wagers on how this bout plays out. There are some real opportunities to cash out wagering on this upcoming clash.

Tyson Fury enters this bout as the -185 favorite. He showed a new kind of aggressiveness against Deontay Wilder that some felt he lacked in his career. That, on top of his elite defensive skills, makes him one of the most dangerous boxers in the sport.

Anthony Joshua is a serious power puncher with some of the best finishing instincts in the game. He was finished by Andy Ruiz in 2019, but avenged that loss easily in a rematch. Still, he enters this fight as the +150 underdog.

Things are finally beginning to come together. Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight is now officially being put together. Make sure to stay tuned for an update on the location and date for this bout!
