Magomed Ankalaev Beats Volkan Oezdemir via Decision
— MMA Junkie (@MMAJunkie) October 30, 2021
Oezdemir is looking to right the ship here. The former UFC light heavyweight title challenger heads to this event on the heels of back-to-back losses to Jiri Prochazka and Magomed Ankalaev. Overall, Oezdemir has lost five out of his last seven bouts and has not tasted victory since a split decision win over Aleksandar Rakic in 2019.
The 32-year-old from Fribourg, Switzerland was a former tournament winner at Valhalla: Battle of Vikings. Oezdemir also fought for Lions Fighting Championship and Bellator before joining the UFC in 2017. After opening his Octagon career with three consecutive wins, he challenged Daniel Cormier for the 205-pound title at UFC 220, losing via knockout. Oezdemir has a record of 17-6 with 12 knockouts and one submission victory.
Oezdemir will be the betting favorite for only the fourth time in seven bouts. He was the underdog when he lost to Dominick Reyes and Ankalaev but was also the bottom dog when he defeated Rakic.
Paul Craig Submits Nikita Krylov
— MMAFighting.com (@MMAFighting) March 19, 2022
Craig is the no. 8 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. The 34-year-old from Airdrie, Scotland enters this matchup unbeaten in his last six bouts, with one draw during that stretch. In his most recent UFC appearance, ‘Bearjew’ submitted Nikita Krylov in a Performance of the Night winning effort at UFC Fight Night 204 last March 19th.
A former light heavyweight champion at Fightstar and BAMMA, Craig joined the UFC in 2016. He had a slow start to his UFC career with four losses in his first six assignments. However, he’s gone unbeaten in his last six fights with five wins, all via stoppage. Craig is 16-4 with three knockouts and 13 submission victories.
The Scottish fighter will be the betting underdog for the fourth time in his last seven bouts. However, Craig won all previous three instances where he fought with the plus money sign written next to his name, including as a +180 bottom dog against Krylov in his most recent fight.
