Sunday Night Football at Lambeau Field with the Bears playing the visitors. It doesn’t get any better than this to end off what was hopefully a profitable day of NFL betting! The Packers and Bears remains one of sport’s truly historic rivalries, and it’s great that it remains just as intense in 2014. That should make for a thrilling affair between these NFC North combatants, as Green Bay will eagerly look to fend off a struggling, but still capable Chicago squad. The Bears enter Week 10 with a slightly disappointing 3-5 record, and you have to believe the Packers would relish the opportunity to drop them 3 games below .500 on national TV in front of their rabid home fans. It promises to be a thrilling end to your Sunday in this high-octane rivalry matchup. As always, The Sports Geek is here to fulfill your betting needs. Bears vs. Packers Pick:
Fresh off their bye week, it will be interesting to see which Jay Cutler and which Bears team shows up to play Sunday night at Lambeau. This remains a talented squad with all the pieces to succeed, but for a plethora of different reasons, it just hasn’t worked in 2014. Jay Cutler is a talented quarterback but you still have to question his overall competitiveness and mental make-up. He is error-prone and has made countless ill-advised decisions this year. Brandon Marshall has been upset about it, and you can bet there’s some bad blood lingering in that Bears locker room. This is a team that expects better and right now it’s not working. Will it improve tonight? Likely not to be honest. The Packers have owned Jay Cutler in his career thus far, and was brutal in their first match-up this year back in Week 4.
Expect Green Bay to jump out to a big lead in this one and not look back. Aaron Rodgers dominated the Bears back in Week 4 and should have the same success again this week. The Bears defense is just bad. It’s one of, if not the worst units in the NFL and there’s no possible way they can limit Rodgers tonight. The Bears secondary has struggled all season long, and Green Bay has put up at least 31 points in all three of its home games in 2014. That trend will continue this evening. Eddie Lacy has also shown some increased burst in recent weeks, and perhaps the bye week will have helped propel him to a better second half. He looked good against the Saints, and if he gets going against a porous Bears’ run defense, it could be lights out early for Chicago.
Sometimes it’s important not to overthink things and just go with what seems obvious. This is one of those cases. The Packers are the far better team and there’s just no way Green Bay doesn’t push 40 tonight. While the Bears offense is pretty great also, the Packers defense will at least put up a bit of a fight and you know Jay Cutler will make a couple of mistakes. Also, Aaron Rodgers off a loss is 15-5 ATS in his career, while Mike McCarthy does quite well with extra preparation. The head coach is 8-0 against the number off of a bye, and I see no reason why that trend can’t continue tonight. Expect a high-scoring affair, but ultimately one in which Green Bay runs away with late in the second half. Be sure to buy the half-point and get this line at -7 with some increased juice. A teaser of Green Bay and the Over would also not be a bad bet. Enjoy the game!
PICK = Packers -7 (-120)
