Chicago Bears vs Tennessee Titans Week 9 – NFL November 8

The NFL is set up with another great day of football on Sunday afternoon. Twelve games are up on the board throughout November 8. One of these games will be between the Chicago Bears and the Tennessee Titans. These two teams have had strong starts to the season, but have hit walls as of late. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time.

Chicago has earned a record of 5-3 throughout this season, which has them in second place of the NFC North. The Bears have lost back to back games though after starting out 5-1. Chicago will look to bounce back on the road in this one after losing a heartbreaker in overtime last week. I expect the Bears to come out strong as they look to end the drought.

The Titans have put up a record of 5-2 on the season, which has them tied for first place in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts. Tennessee has also lost back to back games after starting out 5-0. The Titans are coming off a tough loss to the Bengals and will look to get back on track in this one. I expect Tennessee to come out strong with this one being at home.

These two teams have struggled in the last couple of weeks, which has not helped them in the division race. The Bears find themselves behind the Green Bay Packers in the division, while Indianapolis has caught up with the Titans. Both teams need to get back in the win column, which should help make this an exciting one on Sunday afternoon.

Previous Matchups

The Bears are coming off a matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8. Nick Foles threw two touchdown passes on the day, while Cairo Santos went 3-3 on field goals. It was not enough though. Drew Brees had two touchdown passes of his own on the day and Will Lutz went 4-5 on field goal kicks including the game winner in overtime to give New Orleans a 26-23 victory.

Tennessee met up with the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Derick Henry had a rushing touchdown, while Ryan Tannehill passed for two touchdowns. Joe Burrow threw two touchdowns on the day. Giovani Bernard had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the winning effort. Samaje Perine had another rushing touchdown as the Bengals earned a 31-20 win.

These two teams are coming off losses in their conferences last week. Both teams have had good seasons, but need to stop the bleeding with a win in this one. The Bears and the Titans are both in close divisional races, which should lead to a good one as they try to get closer in the standings. If either team can come out hot, it could be enough to earn a win on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Comparison

Nick Foles is the starting Quarterback for Chicago this season. Foles has taken over the starting spot after Mitchell Trubisky struggled early in the season. Foles has thrown for 1411 yards, 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on the season. Foles went 28-41 for 272 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception in last weeks loss to the Saints.

The Titans have Ryan Tannehill as their starting Quarterback this season. Tannehill has thrown for 1823 yards, 17 touchdowns and 3 interceptions throughout this season. He has rushed for another 102 yards and a touchdown. Last week Tannehill went 18-30 for 233 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception in the loss. The Titans will look for Tannehill to bounce back in this one.

Tannehill has had a much better season throughout this season over Foles. Foles took the job from Trubisky, but has still struggled a bit with turnovers throughout this season. Foles and Tannehill both threw an interception last week and will look to avoid giving turnovers to the defense. Both of these defenses can make you pay, so turnovers could play a key role in Sunday’s matchup.

Offense vs Defense

The Bears have not been great on offense throughout this season. Chicago has averaged 20 points and 311 yards per game throughout this season. Those numbers are 28th and 29th in the league this season. The Bears defense has been strong though this season. Chicago has allowed an average of 21 points and 349 yards per game, which is 8th and 12th in the NFL.

Tennessee has been doing really well on offense throughout this season. The Titans have averaged around 30 points per game on the season, which is 6th in the NFL. Tennessee has also gained around 408 yards per game, which is 5th in the league. The Titans have allowed opposing teams to score an average of 26 points and 297 yards per game, which is 19th and 25th in the NFL.

The Titans have been humming on offense with a nice balance with their rushing attack and their passing game. Chicago’s offense has struggled to find consistency, but their defense has been doing really well on the season. The Bears will need to shut down Derrick Henry to knock Tennessee of their game, while the Titans defense will look to neutralize Chicago.

Pick Overview

These two teams have hit a bit of a rough patch over their last two weeks, which has them falling a bit in the standings. I believe that the Titans will come out strong on Sunday afternoon with this game being at home. Tennessee has proven they can put points up on the board this season, which I think will prove true against this defense. I believe the Titans can keep Chicago’s offensive woes going in this one as well.

BetOnline has Tennessee listed as a -6 ½ against the spread in this one. This gives a solid edge to the Titans on Sunday. I believe that Tennessee is the much better team this season with a more balanced attack. The Bears rely too much on their defense to keep them in games and if the Titans can gain an early lead, it could give a big win to Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans -6.5
